Todd McShay feared for his and others safety

I'm really not taking sides here pro or con. The event in its entirety, makes for great spectacle. Just saying, I've been concerned that one day we're going to see a major catastroffic event during one of these field or court rushing events.
I didn't go on the field because I'm claustroffobic.

Nah man. What the USC player did was completely intentional and clearly crossed the line. You don't deserve that if you storm the field for Christs sake.

Deserve? No. Right to complain? No. Part of the risk associated with going where you don't belong.

Back to the video if that fan wouldn't have been on that field he wouldn't have been drilled by the player what that player did was wrong he reaped what he sowed my message is don't storm the field shit could happen if u do

You guys for real?

He wouldn't have the right to complain if he had gotten a $200 citation for being a public nuance, but he has every right to complain about being assaulted by an opposing player for doing nothing to him. That isn't "reaping what you sow".

I am not defending the player. Did he see the guy? Maybe, probably, yes, no. Do you know? It didn't appear that he swerved to go hit the guy, he didn't clothes line him. Didn't stand and taunt over him. He was running off the field as it was about to be swarmed. No head on a swivel, he wants to get to the safety of the locker room. If he had extended out, swerved to hit him, turned his head, saw him and then hit him it escalates. I wonder if that kid would have gotten hit if he stayed in the stands, probably not.

I think someone needs to watch the video again. There isn't a question as to whether this was intentional or not. He did all of the things in the bolded sentence, pretty clearly.

I stormed the field and felt it was not scary at all.. I actually commented after how it was pretty organized because we could all see it coming. Maybe it was because I came from southeast end zone and the stairs take you right to the field. Unfortunate for anyone who was injured but my experience was pretty tame

Dear god, inappropriate- yes....assault-no....sissy ass society sueing everybody and pressing charges for spilling coffee and getting slivers. If he punched the fan or if it caused some major injury sure....the fan got pushed and popped right back up

I was at the Houston game a few years ago when they stormed the field after UH won the AAC championship. The security guys tried to stop people and threw some people down. After it was all over UH terminated the security firms contract. The following year there was a new security firm. Renu Khator the president of the school was really upset about the security firms actions. There was talk of prosecuting some for assault. Don't know if that happened or not. I remained in the stands.

You should probably read up on what assault is.

"assault is an attempt to initiate harmful or offensive contact with a person, or a threat to do so"

And the guy who was assaulted, has been back to the hospital twice since the assault for post concussion symptoms. Lets remember the guy was leveled by a running 300 lb linemen without pads and without any time to brace for an impact. Honest question, if that was your daughter getting blindsided like that, what would your reaction be?

This will be fun and games until a player, fan, or employee falls, gets trampled, and dies

Watched the replay the next day, found it hilarious when McShay said something like, "Wish me luck" as time ticked down. He sounded a bit worried.

First of all I would tell my daughter to stop dressing like a dude.....then I would hope she learns not to rush the field.
If it were in fact a female, I would probably have a different outlook, but that is not the case now is it. I know the definition of assault my friend, maybe you should read up on what a sissy is- although your reply is example enough

I've shot every game this year, sans MSU and Northwestern. I put them up on my FB in public galleries.

Very well done, great photo of Fant's over the shoulder TD. You were getting a lot of action right in front of you.

I presume this is just for fun?

None of the recent ones are up there, do you sell from each game you do?

I'm building a new website that goes up at the first of the year that image purchases will be able to be made.

No...I do not have any of this season's games up yet. With the move, and attempting to get my studio put together in Iowa....it's been a little hectic. lol

I know you were. LOL

The line of people who have requested to carry my gear for me is about 5 miles long by now.

Being on the field is a great, and very different, experience from being in the stands, even from the front rows. Especially when you get to roam around like photogs. The sound is different, the atmosphere is different. I'd encourage it for anybody who has the opportunity.

Im one for penalizing schools that allow fans to rush the field. yes its a great atmosphere, but its a dangerous situation. I had family at the UW game in 1993 when all those people got trampled on. It was a scary site and luckily none of them were serious hurt, they still got knocked down.

If they want to let fans on the field after a big win, fine let everyone (players/coaches) off the field and then let them rush it and celebrate. I just think you put your self up for some serious issues/problems when you let them storm the floor.

A few years ago DUKE actually took their entire team off the floor w/10 seconds left and then let the home team storm the floor.

So you are demanding that Iowa stop 20,000 fans from entering the field. Is this through punishment of the team, thereby convincing fans not to do it again? Or through sheer physical power?

Kind of off topic but the coffee lawsuit at McDonald's is always brought up as an example of a frivolous lawsuit it's simply not case.

Not exactly sure what you are implying here- but even without that case I could find thousands that are frivolous on a monthly basis.....kind of sad society when nobody is ever willing to take personal responsibility for things....or at least a portion. For instance, the dude got trucked by a football player- obviously not cool on the football player's part, hope for some sort of suspension, reprimand, or something along those lines. But assault or any criminal charges is a bit much IMO....would have never happened if he as a fan would have stayed in the stands. Its like when I am at the zoo I don't find it to be a good idea to jump in the lion's den

I was smack in the middle of it. And not once did I feel unsafe or smashed in. I was also carrying $25k with if camera gear. Not once did anyone grab my gear or mess with it.

Sucks that people got hurt

An old fart like you out on the field with the students? Lucky you didn't get flattened on your ass.

#1. I was doing my job
#2. I’m not exactly a small person. Not a fat ass....I’ve been involved with field and court rushes before. So I know how to navigate them.
