No Hawkeye insight on Hunter Johnson as he just committed to Clemson's program on 12/14/15 and he is Rivals #1 Pro-set Pocket passer for 2017 presently. BUT, Clemson on 12/16/ 15 got an additional PP QB commitment from 2017 #7 Chase Brice of Georgia. Conflict may arise here and Iowa may benefit.

DeShaun Watson is currently a true sophomore and will probably turn pro after next football season and be drafted in the 2017 NFL circus. Deshaun is likely to be one of the top 3 QBs in that class but rarely do dual threat QBs do well in the grueling NFL game. See RG3.

Behind Watson at Clemson is 2015 Dual Threat QB Kelly Bryant ( #11 DT QB and SC native) and the 2016 Class has a commitment from QB Zerrick Cooper ( #10 DT QB and SC native). Too much competition for little PT drives out talent to other places. QBs need to push one another to get better be HJ may have to a sit awhile at Clemson.

Hunter is from Brownsburg, Indiana. With Toks coming to Iowa, maybe Iowa should stay in contact as the blue bloods are already staking their claims on the best 2017 QB prospects. Hunter may not want to leave the Midwest. Maybe Iowa can get Hunter to change his mind about where he could play college football.

The q is do we offer Lombardi and D. Moore in state guys for the '17 class. Right now our only offer for '17 is Kaseem Hill from Baltimore, a 4 star.

Yes, Iowa has a qb for the class of 2016. Stanley has risen to a four star by Scout's (worst recruiting website info) but each year Iowa needs to take a qb. Especially if Iowa can land one of the Elite 11 qbs with enough varsity QB experience to venture his abilities.

With Lombardi's father a prima donna( aka an SOB), Ferentz is most likely to pass on Rocky's offering as he had one in Jake Christiansen. Never again. Hunter Johnson could be the next step up from CJ Beathard for the Iowa program. Who really knows.

Kaseem Hill is from Gilman HS ( Jim Poggi/ Anthony Ferguson's HS). Iowa did not receive much love from there ( Gilman) after rhabdo gate. I don't see Hill visiting Iowa. Ped State seems to be his top suitor. Arion Nieves ( another Indiana QB prospect is maybe in Iowa's view. Too early to tell. Great quarterback leadership can really change a program's performance. Beathard changed Iowa's lot versus what Rudock achieved. If Iowa could get Hunter Johnson, WRs like Jaevon McQuitty and Isaiah Robertson might favor Iowa with visits ( and maybe commitment from top 60 WRs). Iowa could use more talent at the WR position.
