I was a huge Tony Ramos fan from the moment he committed to wrestling at Iowa, and all throughout his college career. However, as with many of you, I was disappointed in the way that he handled himself last year after losing to Dan Dennis. It was good to watch this video and see that Tony seems to be in a "good place" - great to see him relaxed and smiling.

Also interesting to hear him say that he wants to have the feeling of coaching a national champion, and wonders if it will feel better than accomplishing that himself --- that's something Gable has always said, that he took greater satisfaction in coaching champions than achieving his personal success.

Good for Tony ... In life, we may look back at certain periods in our life and hoped we would have reacted differently to certain situations. Tony seems like a good kid ... who is hard working and focused ... Was fun to see two "Hawks" battling it out this past weekend ...

Prediction: Takes two years off and makes a run at 2020 just like DD. Unfortunately, I don't believe he can pull it off. Of course I didn't think Denis could do it either.

I think the situations were different. With Dan, he was mentally and physically exhausted and never really dealt with injuries from college. Just kept on grinding away and was regressing. Stepped away awhile and got his mind and body right and figured out he was still able to compete and beat a lot of guys. Plus, he wasn't married with kids.

Tony sounds like he's done, but you know how that mat calls you after some time has passed. The real question is who will win the 2020 spot; Gilman or Lee?

Well Gilman is already in the room. Perhaps Tom should consider pulling the scholly to Lee to avoid competition and controversy. ;)

Still do not understand his animosity toward Tom and Terry.

I'm not sure what's not to understand. In Tony's mind Tom promised he would be in his corner against Dennis. Tom says that's not true, but clearly there was a difference of opinion on what was agreed upon before the trials.

And he always said -- and said again in this interview -- that his issue is with Tom and not Terry.
