Young players grow and expand their game as the season goes on. I wonder if our senior veterans had already reached their limits early this season and the youngers guys just weren't playing enough to make a difference. Until the last couple of outings Jok had certainly been elevating his game, but who else? The learning curve is obviously much steeper for younger players. I think other teams have caught up and passed us because their now experienced freshmen and sophomores are now playing like upper classmen, while our upper classmen are playing about the same as they were all year. Unfortunately for us, that's not good enough any more.

I thought developing 4 year players was "doing it the right way". No?

I hate to say it, but our seniors would be good "roll" players on any other team in the Big Ten.

Gessell is a good PG, but why sit him with 4 fouls late in the game??

Clemmons has come out to play well, but still hampered by his poor Ft shooting.

Utoff/Jok are our only good players, and teams have scouted that. They are taking them away.

Woody is a good player, but my god the guy can't catch and shoot.

Overall this team is a good group of players, but they are not elite. They are not Big Ten Champ Cailbar and the early season was just a fluke. They will not win another game and they will a first round bump in Big Ten Tourny and in the NCAA. If they are a 5 or 6 seed, I will pick them to lose. The've lost it.

Hate to say this because these kids want to succeed, and we all know it.

But if you have four seniors starting... that means none were good enough to leave early. That means there will be another big dropoff next season because the reserves didn't get crunch time minutes on a regular basis.

Next year will be a challenge.

The guys gave maximum effort, but Iowa doesn't have the same athletic talent that the better teams in the conference have.

Refs kept you guys in the game - no doubt about it! Sure, IU got away with a few calls, but the # of non-calls committed by Iowa in addition to the ticky-tack shit called against IU was egregious at best. It was 23-11 at one point. Either Iowa is extremely proficient at defending without fouling or the refs had a clear agenda, and to keep the fairness going, this has been a recurring theme at most home courts throughout the BIG all season. I have not noticed the same biased officiating from other conferences. This crap has to be cleaned up, as all signs point toward Delaney and mob-controlled Chicago.

As for the loss tonight, don't blame it on FT shooting! Two consecutive "and ones" in the 2nd half for Iowa were NBA continuation calls, not to mention the 2nd foul involving minor contact below the waist before the Iowa player took 2 more steps! Even Jockitch saying that's the way it should be called which could have been easily inferred as an "NBA call." Iowa almost made as many as IU attempted and still shot 66% to IU's 50% from the strip.

As I saw it, there's no grit in this Iowa team. I think that partly explains why they collapse in pressure situations. Giselle, the team's floor general, was nothing but a "staff sergeant" and where was Jok?

Go ahead and lambast for complaining about officiating, as I often too look at it as a last resort in comparing team performances, but the BIG clearly as a problem and needs to fix it immediately.... we ALL won't get the same friendly calls in the tourney!

yeah shooting 8-11 from 3pt land is a norm for you guys on the road?? If it is, I am picking you guys to win the BTC and the NCAA. If you can shoot with that % every game, you should be 30-0 personally. How do you not shoot that good and win by double digits.

The Fouls are always an issue, your the fist person who has come over after a win and complained about officiating. I mean come on, you won the game. I mean they will not call the travels or the push off on Ferrell or #2 when they get into the lane.

I don't care, this was a game that the Iowa players should of had circled. Unfortunatly they didn't and they played like a bunch of freshman girls. They didn't show any heart or willingness to try. They allowed IU to out hustle them and beat them. I mean IU was down to freshman and our seniors couldn't over come.

Is it pathetic to think that Todd Lickliter (the worst coach in Div 1 History) could beat IU, but Fran can't! I do not understand it. Fran's style must fit into IU's game plan.

I really do not want to hear about the reffing from an Indiana fan. I can recall many trips down to Bloomington where the zebras called us for a ton of ticky tack stuff. There was a recent year when you guys supposedly had the invincible team with Zellar and Olydipo. We went down there and watched Cody shoot oodles of FT because we breathed on him. It was an absolute joke. Then you flamed out early in the NCAA's. Go figure when every time Cody dribbled it was not a foul.

I do agree that the officiating leaves a lot to be desired nationwide. Your point is absolutely valid that we lack grit. That's true because we are jump shooting, finesse team. So then you wonder why we are not racking up tons of fouls with that style of play? I did not see lots of D by us either? Ok, makes sense.

The better team won and won the title so congrats. Just do the league a favor now and not flame out in the NCAA's being the champ with a good seed.

Indiana had the easiest conference schedule of the 14 teams. Iowa had one of the two toughest. Do with that as you will, but those are the facts.
