Top 50 wing Joshua Lewis visits this weekend

I prefer highlights that don't show the same thing over and over, but Lewis looks good. Good midrange game and can shoot the 3, although it isn't a quick release. He looks really long, guessing his wingspan is more like 6-10. I don't see top athleticism and quickness, but not unathletic and long arms help. Tape really doesn't give me a good feel for court awareness, ability to assist, or his ability to defend.

He is ranked in the Top 50 in the country and had offers from schools like Illinois, Michigan State and Michigan before committing to South Florida, so I’m gonna go ahead and say he’s probably pretty good,

My review sounded a lot more negative than what I saw. The tape was just very repetitive. I don't think he is WOW athletic, but he can probably scratch his own back a lot better most people.

I get that. After the Nimmers highlight tape it's hard to take any highlights too seriously but it does tell you some things.

You'd probably have to watch a couple full games to get a real feel for his game but top 50 usually means a lot of people have done that already.

He's probably a great player. The question becomes a matter of how many wings Fran keeps on the roster. If you look at today's roster, it has been heavy of late on wings, and light on guards and bigs.
I'd rather load up on 2/3 athletes that play around the rim than non athletic shooters that are 3/4 tweeners though.

But I agree, you need to pair these guys with some quickness.

Nimmers is having a solid little year at Tampa

Well the biggest problem that Iowa has today is rebounding and that's a function of limited size and athleticism around the basket. There's a huge problem when your center is averaging 4 rebounds per game. He and Sandfort are completely overwhelmed down there against bigger, stronger, and quicker players who blow by them, muscle them out of the way or out jump them. You see them just standing there sometimes while opponents keep tapping the ball up at the rim. It looks like men against boys all too often.

yes, I think Fran had gone overboard when he had PMAC, Payton, Pryce all competing for the 3 spot and none of them being plus defenders or above the rim players. PMAC might have been able to get above the rim on fast break dunks, but he wasn't impacting the game defensively above the rim. None of them were good at guarding opposing bigs on switches and too slow to stick with guards. I do think Pryce at times shows some defensive ability and I think he will end up being a better player than Payton and PMAC.

Other than Dix, we are light on 2/3 athletes. Getting Thelwell back for another year may be crucial, otherwise we might not have 2 guards on the entire team if Dix leaves early for NBA or take NIL money payday elsewhere.

The guy who killed Iowa on the glass last game with 13 rebounds was a 6'6 small forward.

Their 2 starting bigs had a combined 5 rebounds.

If Fran is going to load up on wings, and he usually does, at least he's going after athletic ones who are long and can jump instead of his typical "shooter" type wings.

Owen is averaging 6.3 rebounds and last year 6.6. Not outstanding but more than 4.

Yeah. Those 2 bigs only played a combined 36 mins and only average 8 rebounds combined to begin with. The player you referred to was 5-21 making him a net negative for the Huskers.

In the Wisconsin disaster the Wisky starting frontcourt scored 32 points to Iowa's 16 and outrebounded them 15-8. Against Michigan the points were 33-14 and rebounds were 25-8.

Yeah. I don't really care what he averages against the Southerns of the world. He's averaging 4 so far against B1G opponents which is the same average he had in the last 6 games prior to Nebraska.

Fan has plenty of bigs on this roster they just mostly suck.

Yup. Iowa has/had too many tweeners on the roster.

Too bad tonight's butt kicking of IU was not a sell out.

Announced attendance (tickets sold & distribute) was 10,948

Scanned tickets (and actual butts in the seats) would be less, of course.
