Primarily, defensive rebounding is a function of solid defense. Getting broken down on defense compromises rebounding position.Well the biggest problem that Iowa has today is rebounding and that's a function of limited size and athleticism around the basket. There's a huge problem when your center is averaging 4 rebounds per game. He and Sandfort are completely overwhelmed down there against bigger, stronger, and quicker players who blow by them, muscle them out of the way or out jump them. You see them just standing there sometimes while opponents keep tapping the ball up at the rim. It looks like men against boys all too often.
You’d be able to put the LA fires out with how much of a wet blanket you are.Patrick was ranked as high as the #23 prospect in his class.
Defense/rebounding aren't guaranteed by the player if it isn't emphasized by the system.
What a dumb comment. Patrick was nowhere near #23 in the country in the winter of his senior year. Nor did he have offers from Illinois, Michigan St and Michigan.Patrick was ranked as high as the #23 prospect in his class.

Fran's style of play is certainly attractive for anyone who is offensive minded. What the **** is going on here lately lol?
Most players like scoring.Fran's style of play is certainly attractive for anyone who is offensive minded.
Fran has identified and been in on these types of players before - he just appears to be able to close the deal now. Hopefully. Most players like scoring.
Something has changed recently with the type of recruits Iowa is getting and it's weird that it's happening now after a decade and a half.
It’s a combo of nil, revenue sharing and playing time for the 50-150 range players.I think the NIL money situation has improved, based on the kids they were able to get to visit in the fall and the recent commitments.
And not to belabor the point, but it really sounds like Spurlock is a big hit on the recruiting trail.
It’s reminds me of Steve Alford’s last couple years, when Alford (and Craig Neal) started recruiting a different kind of player. Most players like scoring.

Craig Neal really helped the X's and O's.It’s reminds me of Steve Alford’s last couple years, when Alford (and Craig Neal) started recruiting a different kind of player.

Alford had two big issues. Blaming players and a high school level half court offense.Craig Neal really helped the X's and O's.
Really too bad how the '05-'06 season ended with the loss to NWSt. I encourage fans to try to get past that because that was one hell of a team to remember. 4 Iowa guys in the lineup made it really special.
Great stuff on O from Neal. Some of the first zoom action into the DHO I can remember

I’ve heard Mike gatens has been trying to work with former players, managers and others connected to Iowa b-ball to drum up more NIL support for the program.I think the NIL money situation has improved, based on the kids they were able to get to visit in the fall and the recent commitments.

That's part of fans showing interest in the program.I’ve heard Mike gatens has been trying to work with former players, managers and others connected to Iowa b-ball to drum up more NIL support for the program.
All I know wish we would’ve used all that NIL $ wasted on lucey Olsen for men’s program.
OuchYeah. Those 2 bigs only played a combined 36 mins and only average 8 rebounds combined to begin with. The player you referred to was 5-21 making him a net negative for the Huskers.
In the Wisconsin disaster the Wisky starting frontcourt scored 32 points to Iowa's 16 and outrebounded them 15-8. Against Michigan the points were 33-14 and rebounds were 25-8.
You mean while Frans head coach. Not ever.Primarily, defensive rebounding is a function of solid defense. Getting broken down on defense compromises rebounding position.
But length, athleticism, girth, quickness, strength, desire, jumping ability, determination, also contribute on the boards.
If intentional, the recent recruits' athletic traits is Fran's way of addressing the boards. Because we know what's primary in defensive rebounding probably won't ever be who Iowa is
And the fact there are no McCaffery's on the roster to hinder playing time at their positions.I think the NIL money situation has improved, based on the kids they were able to get to visit in the fall and the recent commitments.

Fran has been the bridesmaid on so many of these guy. Make final 4-5 but always end up at a blue blood. Seems like cook last time we got someone rated so high.Would be a huge get, but I won't feel good until the LOI is signed!
Fran has often been ahead of others in identifying guys. As previous poster said just hasn't been able to close elite deals. In way early on Tyler Uhlis and Filipowski to name a couple off the top of my head. Would be huge to close this one.
