Top Gun Maverick…

I didn't like it. It seemed like a lame attempt to copy the original.

I think the story was good, but I thought the movie could have been better.

Best part about the movie was the final action set piece when it wasn’t just copying the first movie. I was really disappointed in how much of the first 2/3 of the movie was basically a rehash of the same content. Right down to Great Balls of Fire. At least we didn’t have to hear You've Lost That Lovin Feelin again.

You mean the remake of Star Wars: A New Hope? We have to fly in low below the radar through the mountains (trench run on the Death Star), we have to hit an impossible target in an exposed ventilation hatch, and escape with a wave of fighters after us. It's scary how similar they are. I didn't realize it until a buddy pointed it out.

Oh I didn’t know you were asexual. Well good luck with that.

I think people are thinking too hard on this one. Was it original and full of Oscar-worthy performances? No. Was I wildly entertained? Yes.

That's fair. it is a good flick. I took my kids to see it at the drive in. They said, "What's a drive in?" That sealed the deal since I could watch the movie with a few barley pops.

Average Star Wars rip off.
My dad the retired USAF vet asked me after the movie - "That was dumb, wasn't it?"
Yes, yes it was.

Average is being kind.

At least you know who the rebellion was fighting and why they were fighting them.

Top Gun Maverick is like a movie out of idiocracy.

There was a time when movies had stories so you cared about who was getting blown up and why they were getting blown up and I believe that time can come again.

I've tried to watch it 3 times. The weird football scene is as far as I've made it before falling asleep. Does it get better?

Yes. For those who watched further, tell me you weren't like, "awwwwww shit, let's go!" when Mav was booted from training team and the next morning during the morning briefing they picked him up on radar proving the mission could be flown.

Wow. Lot of Martin Scorsese’s in here. The movie was bad ass because of the flying aspect. Didn’t much care for the cheese. I’m impressed how well and accurate they can nail it in regards to aviating. Fun fact, friend and alumni of my school was former top gun in the 80s (retired FedEx pilot) and was assigned to show Goose and Maverick (Tom and Anthony Edwards) around the base before shooting. Was his Facebook profile photo for awhile.

So you thought the bomb run was realistic.

It’s fighter jets. Filmed amazingly with a huge budget. To me, the plot didn’t have to be much of anything. Show me the planes.
