We were top 10 in football briefly in 1981 (before the start of the basketball season). Not sure if we were top ten following the 80-81 basketball season or possibly preseason top ten for the 81-82 season. That's the closest I can find.

We were ranked 18th following the 80-81 basketball season, but we were 8th and 9th in the AP and UPI 81-82 preseason basketball polls. The preseason poll would have to have been out by October 24th though. That's when we lost to the gophers and fell out of the top ten in football.

In the mid-1950's Iowa won 2 Rose Bowls and went to the
Final Four in Basketball. Evy and Bucky O'Conner had the
Hawkeyes in the AP Poll Top Ten.

Finished 8th in the AP in basketball in 60-61 and 3rd and 2nd in AP and UPI in football in 60. That looks like the last time.
