Basketball is a game of runs and when 2 teams are fairly even I don't expect 10-15 point early leads to last.
Of course Iowa got off to a bad start second half shooting the ball...missed too many FT....and given that did almost win game. But Officiating cannot be ignored as a factor for Illinois winning.
Officials have become cowards in this day and age. Cowards that play it safe and go along with the home crowd to please them. That's what was happening last night. How can a defender leap in the air and land on someone and no foul? Murray did the right thing...fire off a shot to make it a shooting foul (but no foul called is astonishing)
Happened in 1st half too when Illinois defender lands his knee on Iowa players back when he pumped faked him in the air.
Officials (the cowards) routinely @#ck these calls up:
Over the back - ignore it play on and even worse call it on the player who had position (Illinois lived on the backs of Iowa players last night)
Ball out of bounds - again relates to over the back - player has good rebound position and bang other player crashes over them swatting at ball and it goes out of bounds - If I was reffing I'd call it automatically out on the over the back swatter. Of course the swatter will be first player throw their arm out point their direction...the Cowards will go along with that.
Good defense under Rim!!....player standing set with arms up and offensive player dribbles in jumps into them and it's automatically whistled on defender....seems ref has mind made up to call foul already.
Flopping!!...we were all told they were going to call out the floppers. Not the Cowards....they keep on rewarding the fakers. (check out the Indiana women's team's theatrics - pathetic that a team's strategy revolves around that to win)
