Total rip off....

Basketball is a game of runs and when 2 teams are fairly even I don't expect 10-15 point early leads to last.
Of course Iowa got off to a bad start second half shooting the ball...missed too many FT....and given that did almost win game. But Officiating cannot be ignored as a factor for Illinois winning.

Officials have become cowards in this day and age. Cowards that play it safe and go along with the home crowd to please them. That's what was happening last night. How can a defender leap in the air and land on someone and no foul? Murray did the right thing...fire off a shot to make it a shooting foul (but no foul called is astonishing)
Happened in 1st half too when Illinois defender lands his knee on Iowa players back when he pumped faked him in the air.

Officials (the cowards) routinely @#ck these calls up:

Over the back - ignore it play on and even worse call it on the player who had position (Illinois lived on the backs of Iowa players last night)

Ball out of bounds - again relates to over the back - player has good rebound position and bang other player crashes over them swatting at ball and it goes out of bounds - If I was reffing I'd call it automatically out on the over the back swatter. Of course the swatter will be first player throw their arm out point their direction...the Cowards will go along with that.

Good defense under Rim!!....player standing set with arms up and offensive player dribbles in jumps into them and it's automatically whistled on defender....seems ref has mind made up to call foul already.

Flopping!!...we were all told they were going to call out the floppers. Not the Cowards....they keep on rewarding the fakers. (check out the Indiana women's team's theatrics - pathetic that a team's strategy revolves around that to win)

So in other words, you don’t have a response to counter that so you insult people.

Why do you think Iowa had a better chance to win last night w/o JBo playing very much, no scoring and PMac not playing? Iowa’s more athletic players in Keegan, Kris, Perkins, Joe T, and Ulis got the majority of minutes and scored most of the points. You talk about people being dumb, but damn dude, you take the cake when you can’t see who the most athletic and best players are on this team. But go ahead and double down on stupid.

December game vs Illini lost with PMac and JBo playing majority of minutes. Last night, Iowa wins w/o them if they make their free throws. It’s as simple as that.
Yeah, Illinois has the only fast quick athletic guards in the Big Ten. Bohannon scoring double digits in 8 straight games against the likes of Fats, Mcgowens, Verge, Brooks, and Audige sucks. LMAO, it was so beneficial he had to sit out much of last night. Same with Pat too, boy we didn't miss him at all considering he only went 5-11 scoring 12 points, last time we played Illinois. Thank god Joe came in to score 5 points and shell out 3 turnovers in 20 minutes, or we would have had our doors blown off.

Illinois has home court student fans....Iowa not so much. It has been the difference in almost all the games Iowa plays there.
Or anywhere really.

It's funny too because most Iowa students over the past decade honestly are very standoffish, very "meh whatever", when you try to call them out for being among the worst student sections, particularly in regards to enthusiasm towards basketball, in the Big Ten. That's not an opinion, although you can ask other fanbases where they would rank Iowa's student section as well, and they'd probably just laugh.

But hey the Iowa students ain't got time for that because they don't give a fugg........amirite? :D

Joe's career/biggest fundamental issue can be summed up in that play where he was going too fast at the hoop and tried to come to a screeching halt by going into a hop and hoping to plant himself flat in the paint, and instead did a baseball slide for a travel and the next image we see is Fran sitting there with his head buried in his arms.......................

Until he figures out how to play under control with all that speed, it will always hold him back.

If you can’t see that Kris and Joe are more athletic than PMac and JBo, I can’t help you. And even with the three turnovers, AND JBo scoring zero last night as well as Connor, and PMac being out, Iowa wins if they make their free throws. See? I can play that game too. Iowa can win multiple ways and Fran has finally figured that out with the players he has that are either playing good or bad.

We never play well at Illinois if we would of hit free throws if and if . Still proud of the team go Hawkeyes

Unforced too, that's what's tough about some of those. Joe has a great role on this team, love everything he brings, but man, some of the guys on here who think Bohannon isn't athletic and we don't need him against some teams is just really hard to take.

How is Joe "more athletic" than Bohannon? Because he's faster? I don't care about the better athlete, I care about the better basketball player. Also, what does Kris playing the 5 have anything to do with Pat playing the 3? We need both is my point.

As for the bolded, honestly, are you aware this is what I'm saying and that you are contradicting yourself all at once? This is hard to do. We need all these guys, you are the one that implied we were better without Bohannon and Pat.

Being a better athlete isn't the same as being a better basketball player. It helps, but that's why they're different.......

Caitlin Clark isn't the best player in women's college basketball because she's more athletic pound-for-pound than anyone else.

If you can’t see Joe, Ahron , and Perkins are more athletic and able to compete better vs Frazier and Curbelo, I don’t know what to tell you:

stat line:
Starters:
JBo: 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists
Connor: 0 points, 1 rebound, 1 ass
Bench:
Joe T: 5 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists
Ahron: 2 pints, 1 rebound, 1 assist

Joe, Ahron, and Perk compete better vs guards like Frazier and Curbelo is what I’m trying to say. JBo gets shut down vs guards that are very athletic on both ends of the court. Iowa can’t afford to have two starters with 0 points and expect to win while seeing a majority of the minutes.

Frans teams have ALWAYS gotten to the line and most years they suck at the line. I knew the Illini would make a run, but good grief......the no calls on some of the Hawk possessions were crazy!!!
Frans teams typically are above average at the line.

Perkins is great, however, he is not who we are talking about. You said we are better off without Pmac and Bohannon. Stop moving the goal posts to support your insanely idiotic post.

So...let's get this straight.
Iowa goes 8-1 blowing out most of our opponents during this stretch.
Pat and Bohannon are two of the top five guys contributing during this run.
We lose to Illinois in which Pat doesn't play and Bohannon is in foul trouble so he can't contribute like normal.
You imply because of this LOSS, we are better off with them not playing as much.
Got it.

**** killer instinct, **** need better coaching…my boys need to make freethrows and layups!!! They do that, we don’t have this conversation. They will be better, no doubt. They are pissed at themselves and as bad as we shot, we had a chance to win with Kris’ three at the end. It goes no further than #15 and #24. Season isn’t over and neither is their opportunity to make a great run as a team. Go Hawks!!!
Papa, without your boys this year is no where near what we have seen. With all due respect to the other guys (because we have a GREAT team!) Keegan and Kris are the backbone. I can only imagine how they feel right now, and I am sure they are beyond upset right now. But, you are right...they are going to use that to lead the Hawks on a FUN RUN now! :)

Go get em Hawks!!!
