Sloppy game cost the Hawks. We just don't value the call enough.

I think IL is our best chance at a win for awhile.

Quite a few teams in B1G playing a lot of freshman. What sets Iowa apart is our Senior class has 1 guy Jok and Jr class is essentially no one, since Uhl at best is role player.

Not a very good team with not a very good coach

I like Fran, but i feel like there are a good number of opposing coaches in the B1G that would get more out of this team. Hopefully he can rally the team, finish the end of a season strong for a change

Yep tough loss no doubt. Shot free throws well too. Just didn't shoot it well enough to come out on top. Played our guts out. If I'm not mistaken Maryland had more turnovers also. Jok was 4 for 14. If he makes 2 more whole different outcome.

And we have a roster full of guys outside of Cook and Jok who would not be playing in the Big Ten.

They seem flat, really since Purdue. Had good energy from Wagner(played really well) and Baer. They just need to keep fighting. A lot of season left

I think we had 1 first half paint bucket in the half court. Doesn't help when you're missing threes and decide "Hey a lineup of Bohannon/Ellingson/Jok/Jones/Kriener with no dribble threats, one maybe post option, and limited offensive rebounding will definitely work for the next 4 minutes".

Team's mentality changed in the second half. Stopped fearing their shot blockers, got easy baskets and to the foul line. Unfortunately, far too late.

I'm glad we get 5 days off. Team has been involved in 5 of 6 games where they had to comeback from a deficit with little time off. Players might need a mental break. I look forward to seeing them finish the season off strong.

I do not discount any of the factors others point out above, but what torks me off is that team deserves a better PG. Jok deserves a better PG so he doesn't get hounded relentlessly without someone to create an open look. Fran knows the struggles of young teams; namely on defense. He should not have a PG out there who can't defend anyone in the conference.

What are he and his staff getting paid to do? They haven't been able to play defense since he has been here and continue to miss more than hit on recruits. Every game now we have 'bench the starters moment' where we pull names out of a hat in hopes they are less ineffective than the guy before them. No PG, no shot blocker, 1 shooter, and 1 guy who somewhat plays above the rim in Cook. Does that look like any other Big Ten team you have seen this year?

I was talking to a buddy as I didn't get to see the game. He basically said 3 things that stood out to him.

1. PG's- He has been on this subject since day 1. He thinks Bohannon will be a good one when he's a Jr/SR. He is upset that Fran didn't land a PG in Soph or JR class that is worthy of playing. He was on the Williams bandwagon, but now we know he can't defend.

2. Jok- he has said all along that PJ can be the best player, but he can also go Hyde and be the worst player on the floor. Sounds like last night he was not very good. Said he forced some shots and also had some ill advised TO's.

3. Youth- Said Iowas showing their true colors. A lot of our guys are not Big Ten material YET. He thinks in 2-3 years they will be very good, but they are just not physically and mentally ready for the Big 10.

SO I asked him what could be done. He is all up in arms about the "transfer" market. He thinks Fran needs to go out and get a graduate transfer PG. Someone with some experience at the position and can run the show. He said Creighton has done it and several other schools do it. He thinks Fran needs to "suggest" that 1-2 players look elsewhere after this year.

I don't know I didn't see the game, but this is all he was talking about.

We're 3-4 in the big ten, not 0-7, and Jok was awful last night, and might possibly be the worst defender on this team. Since big ten play has started, we have more blocks than our oppoents. Jbo, Jok, Bohannen, Moss, and Ellingson all shoot above 35% from 3. Give me a break.
