Haven't seen it done yet, so I will start it off.
Gilman - B. I know he would give himself an F for not reaching his goal. I would have to give him a D or F for his semis performance, but an A for everything else. After getting his lifetime goal crushed, he showed a lot of guts and will to come back strong for 3rd.
Clark - A+. Duh.
Carton - B. Won one on the backside and scored 2.5 points. Could have been better, but wrestled hard and got a couple quality wins.
Sorensen - A-. Wrestled really well - probably the best he has all year. He was pretty aggressive and got some bonus. Came back for 3rd. Got phantom pinned against Zain, but after the backs, he wasn't going to come back anyway.
Kemerer - A-. Wrestled really well also. We all knew it was a bad matchup with Palacio. Kemdawg is a much better wrestler but just got caught wrestling Palacio's match. Other than that, he dominated, including a major over Berger.
Gunther - B. While he potentially could have done better, but he had a dinged knee and is our 3rd best 165er. What can we expect?
Meyer - B. Started out strong getting to the quarters with an upset. He really wrestled very, very well. It could have been an A weekend for him if he had just dodged Bo Jordan at the end of the match. He was wrestling Crutchmer really well until he got caught in the headlock. He is what he is. So close to being really, really good, but just doesn't seem to get through matches without a major error that costs him the match. Good luck in med school (hopefully gets in).
Brooks - B. Wrestled really well all weekend. When he stuck to basics, he was on fire. Got into three throwing moves. Won one, but lost two. Always enjoy watching him wrestle.
Wilke - A-. I would really like to give him an A for making R12 when he wasn't even invited to the tournament initially. However, I think there is a lot more talent there than he realizes or gets credit for. If he wrestled with more confidence, he may have been able to make the podium this weekend. Hopefully he gains that confidence, cuts to 184 and makes tremendous strides next year. It is definitely doable.
Team - A-. While everything didn't go our way, we wrestled really hard and opened up this weekend (except Gilman's semi). Cory frickin' Clark - duh. We got more bonus points than we have in a long time. After losses, all of our guys refocused and came back strong. I am very happy and proud of all these guys for representing the U of Iowa the way they have. While we didn't reach the goal of 9 NC and a team championship, there was progress and I am excited about the young guys coming up.
