Trent Hidlay in campus!!!

if nelson b. keeps kicking butt i'm not so sure pst doesn't steal him, so i'm sure not going to count on sasso or hidlay at this point.

I could see a scenario in which Trent grew to an 84lber - which would work well with Iowa's current personnel.

also - im pretty sure he'll be ranked much higher than 16th in the next update of the 2018 Big Board

How do you like our odds in getting Trent and Sasso?

REALLY would like him to be a Hawk. I have had him on my wish list for a while. Beard, Sasso, Hoffman, Teske and Hidlay would be my top 5 from this class!!
He probably fits in that 165-174 range. Ideally I hope he ends up at 184!!
Beard and/or Hoffman would be AWESOME if 1 of them could make 184. But don't know if that is a possibility for them let alone I don't know if either is interested in Iowa..

From what I've heard, Hoffman projects at 197 and nothing lower. Beard maybe could go either 184 or 197 (see link below), but might have a hard time staying at 184 long term. Again, just what I've seen from various internet sources, mostly on the PSU board.

Well knowing our luck both of them will end up at psu. Hopefully Cornell can snag Beard away from you guys. LOL

That is a solid top 5, any top 5 from this class HAS to include Gable Stevensen if you can pick from anyone. I am assuming you are choosing from the uncommitted guys left on the board. Which is both logical and much more realistic. My top 5 from the uncommitted guys would be Silva, Sasso, Lewan, Carr and Montalvo. I have to give an honorable mention to Mason Parris, but because Stevensen and Nevills are in the same class. Plus, with Schlutz coming up next year (who it seems is always mentioned in the same breath as Iowa) and I am taking Iowa's weight class needs into account. So, Mason Parris doesn't quite make my top 5 even though he is undoubtedly ranked higher than some of my picks.

In that order.

I LOVE Silva as a prospect. I watched him at the Ironman and Clash and while I was impressed with him before, I became blown away. He would be in my top 5 even if we included all the committed wrestlers.

I also completely understand including Teske into your top 5 as he is an excellent 125 recruit and the in State factor can not be overlooked, but with Spencer Lee already in house and looking like a potential career 125, that is just not a weight class of need. I also see Hilday as a 165, at least for a couple years, so with Marinelli there, I would prefer to wait and go after Conner Brady next year. The same logic applies to both Beard and Hoffman, both of whom I like quite a bit, Beard especially, but with Warner in house already and I doubt 184 is actually realistic for Beard. I know he was at 182 for the Ironman this year, but he came up permanently right after and likes to hit the weight room by all accounts. I would prefer Foca in the next class or ideally Ferrari in the following, although he seems like a PSU lean already with the Nickal connection. Ugh.

Just my thoughts...

I would agree - it is highly doubtful that Beard or Hoffman will see anything but 197 in college.

I think you are right on with your post although I'm not as high on Foca as you seem to be. Great wrestler, but I don't see him at the same level as the other wrestlers you mentioned. My guy has worked out with him a time or two although Foca is a lot bigger now so maybe he has picked it up a notch, but not sure this is evident in the results.

Trent thinks he will start at 174 and grow into a 184
