Tristan Wirfs did not report to OTAs (Organized Team Activities). Seeks Long Term Deal

No, let’s keep him in TB. Find the $$$ Bucs!

Tampa Bay definitely prioritized & found the money for the QB position.

On March 10, Tampa Bay's starting QB got paid. Baker Mayfield signed a 3 year, $100M contract, including a $28.875M signing bonus. $50M of the $100M is guaranteed.

His Salary Cap Hit:
....$6.9M:.......2024
$35.8M:......2025
$45.8M:......2026

Do Chicago & Detroit have the salary cap space? Is that the hold up in Tampa? Everybody is looking for their big pay day and a team can only have so many big contracts.
I have no idea. 30% of my sports attention and energy is focused on hawkeye football, 30% on Caitlin, 20% on mens hawkeye baseketball, 15% hawkeyes in the NFL, and 5% on women's hawkeye basketball post caitlin.

They have around 47 million in cap space from what I can see.

it must be a crazy jig saw puzzle trying to fit all the contracts within the cap

The Adam Schefter tweet above got cut off.

Wirfs was in the final year of his contract that WAS scheduled to pay him $18.244M this upcoming season.

He is now contractually tied to Tampa Bay through 2029.

What he's earned so far:
2020.......$9,972,200
2021............1,347,638
2022...........2,085,275
2023...........2,822,913

TOTAL:......16,228,026

I don't remember which one (maybe McShay), but some supposed draft guru jackass tried to say that Wirfs wouldn't thrive at tackle in the NFL because his arms were too short. Yeah, that aged well!

Who would be the next OL-man who will demand more (and get more) money than Tristan?

Trent Williams is a bad example because of his age (he turned 36 on July 19) but he is another example of an elite OL-man holding out for more money.

An 11-time Pro Bowl anchor for the 49ers' front, the veteran left tackle is owed more than any offensive linemen in the NFL in 2024, but he skipped the start of training camp over contract concerns, coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters.

It's possible he's seeking additional guarantees at the end of the six-year extension he inked back in 2021, which pays him in excess of $30 million per season through 2026.

Story from yesterday:

If you figure NFL 17 games per year and on average 160 plays per game. Tristan Wirfs plays 80 plays per game. He makes $20,680 per snap. Good for him.

"additional guarantees" probably shouldn't be necessary if he saved and invested wisely some of that $90M in earnings since 2021.

He also has another $30M coming to him this year, so even if he were to retire after the season, you'd think he would have enough to live a very comfortable life.

Just on this contract alone, not anything from his years in Buffalo, let's say conservatively at least $20M (after taxes/agent fees/bad investments/living expenses, etc.) should be sitting in his bank account.

In addition, in his 14 prior seasons, he's earned $168,658,608.
