Do what Reagan did fuel GDP growth with military spending.3% GDP growth. Dream big.
Do what Reagan did fuel GDP growth with military spending.3% GDP growth. Dream big.
All of his years before Corona GDP growth fell short or were nearly the same as Obama’s previous three years.. Both ran deficits Obama’s were falling though. While Trump’s increased.Trump promised this his first four years and failed to deliver. Why should we believe him this time around?
They’ll spin it as a victory. This is going to be fun to watch fail massively.
His followers will lap it up on their knees and ask for more. They’ll spin it as a victory.
Well the massive tax cuts and his deficit spending to be accurate. You can do tax cuts but imo you have to also cut spending but he wanted to use the low interest rates for spending. To be accurate, it was his massive tax cuts right off the bat that created the debt he's responsible for. And his first order of business will be more cuts for himself and his buddies. He doesn't give a single shit about the deficit.
Military spending didn't fuel GDP growth. Changing the tax code, particularly MACRS depreciation, fueled GDP growth.Do what Reagan did fuel GDP growth with military spending.
Oh they won’t be touching the military. So the promise is to basically cut the deficit in half. Great. But how do you do it without touching the military or entitlements?
Tax cuts were paid for with deficit spending. The biggest increase in spending was defense. It’s all related and not a binary situation. We are both correct. My quip is simplistic. When the reality is not.Military spending didn't fuel GDP growth. Changing the tax code, particularly MACRS depreciation, fueled GDP growth.
Goddamn you can’t possibly be this naive. Freaking people who are hoping this is going to be better. I hoped for his last term. Silly me.I understand what happened but also take into acct what was happening at the time that blew up the spending. I would hope his administration learned from it and they do a better job but time will tell.
I’m an internal optimist Huey. Even if I don’t like the guy at the helm I always hope for the best and Judge them by their results after things are implemented.
Best case scenario. There will be lots of pressure from the GOP to not touch Social Security and Medicare because that's a death knell in future elections.
I suspect Trump doesn't get much done, just like first term.
The corporate rate is fine imo. The gain or flow though rate is the issue. It’s encouraging hoarding or over rewarding of wealth instead of reinvestment. Money sitting on the sidelines not being used in an economy is bad for economic activity. Considering the size of our debt currently using some of the over rewarded resources to bring it down isn’t crazy.Well the massive tax cuts and his deficit spending to be accurate. You can do tax cuts but imo you have to also cut spending but he wanted to use the low interest rates for spending.
I’m in favor of keeping the Trump tax cuts but raising it on $400k and up like the Biden admin wanted. Also in favor of raising the corporate rate to 24%. But that is a simplistic view of how to fix the tax system. Will be interesting on how the no tax on Tips and SSI works out though
You missed the latest. Check out the new secretary of the navy.It is nice to finally see something. From what I’ve read is they probably won’t be touching defense spending but some entitlements are on the table. They didn’t go into detail on that but they brought up a bulk would be from the discretionary spending which helped with Biden’s GDP numbers.
Seems like they are banking on keeping the Trump tax cuts but also to offset any possible deficit increase from that they would cut government spending (wherever that may come).
With our issues with China this might be his most important defense appointment. And he goes with a donor. You missed the latest. Check out the new secretary of the navy.
Nope. But you believe what you want.Tax cuts were paid for with deficit spending. The biggest increase in spending was defense. It’s all related and not a binary situation. We are both correct. My quip is simplistic. When the reality is not.
Ditto, tax cuts still funded by deficit spending. If they had cut spending to go along with changes you’d be 100% correct.Nope. But you believe what you want.
Why do this when they can just sit back and let him blow up the economy like he did last time, like every Republican has done since 2000 and then they barely need to break a sweat to win in the next election. The only problem with this is then they spend most of their first term fixing the mess the Republicans created and never get a chance to actually implement their policies until later on. As a result, the benefits of the strong economy don't hit until too late. The absolute dumbest thing the Democrats could do is work with Trump on anything. So they will probably try to do it. They appear to be hopeless. Their pretty much complete silence as Trump over and over names cranks and cronies and crooks and sex pests to his administration has been pathetic.
The Democrats need to oppose this administration strongly and loudly from day 1 (it's what the Republicans do as a matter of course when the Democrats are in charge). The Democratic path back to power is to point out and oppose the fascistic authoritarian nature of the Trump/Maga movement, and the over-the-top corruption, incompetence, lawlessness and meanness that comes along with it.
Normalization of this anti-American BS by "working" with Trump is bad, horrible politics and bad, horrible for them and the country.
They’re going to cut HIV and anxiety drugs from Medicaid. So the promise is to basically cut the deficit in half. Great. But how do you do it without touching the military or entitlements?
You’ve got to provide more reasons why you think this is a good idea. My brother is in Naval Intelligence, in charge of readiness in defense. With our issues with China this might be his most important defense appointment. And he goes with a donor.
Reread what he wrote. He doesn't think it's a good idea. You’ve got to provide more reasons why you think this is a good idea. My brother is in Naval Intelligence, in charge of readiness in defense.
We need that.Best case scenario.
A Trump brand specialty, apparently.Creative bookkeeping?
Six bankruptcyies don't happen by themselves!A Trump brand specialty, apparently.
The man has great concepts though… and he is a genius, too! He told me so.Six bankruptcyies don't happen by themselves!
Good one. 😻The man has great concepts though… and he is a genius, too! He told me so.
The amazing growth spurred by the tax cuts will more than pay for themselves, dummy. Trickle down economics is time tested. It always works. Not sure how they're going to do this and still give all those promised tax cuts to the billionaires?
A big donor. It will be fine. Secretary of the Navy is a OTJ training job. With our issues with China this might be his most important defense appointment. And he goes with a donor.
The best case scenario is he proves to be as lazy as he showed us the first time, and spends his time trying to grift off of crypto and Truth Social while golfing a lot.Best case scenario.
Opening more land for exploration sounds good on the surface. But how much of that land has economically profitable oil. The US production is already at all time highs. Just from a logistics standpoint how much can the US increase. What areas aren’t currently being tapped? So, they going to nationalize the oil industry to force big oil to produce 3 million more barrels a day against big oil's current strategy of restricting production to keep prices high?
Popcorn time.
It's complete BS.
And besson knows it.
It's nuts this is the best we can hope for. A president who doesn't do anything and only embezzles a relatively small amount of money. The best case scenario is he proves to be as lazy as he showed us the first time, and spends his time trying to grift off of crypto and Truth Social while golfing a lot.
Not I…I figure A couple of years from now MTG or someone like her will off Trump and Vance will be in charge. It's going to be a long four years for you whiny bitches. Hopefully at least half of you don't survive,
What??? I thought he was going to be so busy he'd have "no time to golf" (unlike Obama). The best case scenario is he proves to be as lazy as he showed us the first time, and spends his time trying to grift off of crypto and Truth Social while golfing a lot.
Obama is black. They are lazy in Trump's eyes. White guys golfing is a sign of success. What??? I thought he was going to be so busy he'd have "no time to golf" (unlike Obama).
Especially when they drive their own golf cart!Obama is black. They are lazy in Trump's eyes. White guys golfing is a sign of success.
You must be fun at parties. 🤨LOL's. The Democrats need to get much better at practicing the type of branding politics that the Republicans have perfected, which includes an acute need to brand the Republican party for what they really are. The problem for the Democrats is that they are bad at politics as it's practiced in the 2020's.
"Populist ideas that win back the middle class". LOL's, just stupid stupid stupid, more of what they've been trying to do forever. The Democrats and the consultants who run them are clueless about why people vote the way they vote. The Dems need to effectively brand the Republicans for what they actually really are to the low-information voters who decide Presidential elections and specifically decided the 2024 election. And that has little to nothing to do with "populist" or "policy ideas". The Republican policy agenda is extremely unpopular, but it doesn't matter.
And of course despite everything and themselves, the Dems lost a very close Presidential election and actually picked up a seat or two in the House. They'll almost certainly come roaring back in 26 and 28 in spite of themselves because the Trump administration even before taking control is pretty obviously going to be a disaster.
What were all those “dramas” (pre-COVID) during Trump’s first term? Most of the administration is new. Not many holdovers from first 3 years. Several of his cabinet members are light on experience. And experience is the best teacher. Facts are most of your time is spent managing Trump and his whims. Trump is more focused on spin than the overall big picture of governing.
It will be the same as last time going from one self created drama to the next.
Do Republicans really need much “help” from Dems due to their general control of Congress? How would the Democrats be doubling down on some 'strategy' by not working with the Republicans? What the hell are you even talking about?
The Democrats when in or out of power are ALWAYS trying to cut deals with the Republicans, ALWAYS.
I firmly believe they should not be making deals or trying to help/normalize/legitimize a party that has turned into an authoritarian/fascist cult. The Democrats should not want any perception of linkage per voters with this trash heap of a Presidency when the voters go to the polls in 26 and 28.
No transgender prison surgeries. So the promise is to basically cut the deficit in half. Great. But how do you do it without touching the military or entitlements?
You're a guy that it looks like spent your Thanksgiving posting on a message board. I doubt you're invited to any parties. You must be fun at parties. 🤨
