Trump and Carson ask for Secret Service protection

I believe Obama got secret service protection at about this time.

I saw in the news this morning Carson was saying that the secret service contacted him about getting a detail on the basis that they had received threats.

I don't think it's a good idea to judge what candidates and the secret service do to protect them.

If for some reason a major candidate gets injured or killed in an assassination attempt then everyone will be asking why they didn't have a detail. And things things have happened during primary campaigns. Bobby Kennedy and George Wallace for example.

Not worth risking it.

Carson's people contacted the Secret Service, they do not approach candidates. Would the Secret Service provide security at Carson's book signings?
