Crime and inflation are down, the border isn't open, and I don't know what the USA has to do with other countries' diplomacy.

What? Inflation is at an all time high, unemployment is through the roof, the stock market is crashing, and Americans have pretty much given up on life. Trump will lower the price of goods and services on day 1 and will fix our unemployment and inflation rate. The stock market will recover and reach record highs. The world will enter a new era of peace. Make us great again!!

In each case, my principle responses are "say congratulations," "be indifferent," and "count on our governmental structures to keep things moving slowly".
In the Harris case, my principal supplemental is "hope that nutjobs don't try to make any stupid show of force, but if they do, they get put down as if they were hamas in gaza."
In the Trump case, my principal supplemental is "have a brief chuckle watching youtube videos of people decompensating".

I don't think they're worthless, but what the do show...this time around...is simply that this is a tossup, notwithstanding the infinitesimally small and wobbly moves people are getting worked up over the last week or so.

i think any one poll is not really worth paying attention to...but in aggregate, polling can be pretty informative (or at least interesting to people who crave political content)
most of the aggregating sites and models seem to show kamala with the slightest of leads...the polling as a whole, frankly, doesn't look particularly great for either candidate
I am at the point where (i) I am completely ignoring national polls and favorability polls; (ii) I am focusing solely on swing state polls (and a few senate races); and (iii) within the swing state polls, (A) I'm taking a Silver-esque approach of mentally assuming adjustments for anything from Rasmussen, Fabrizione, "American Greatness," PPP, and NYT and (B) I'm further ignoring or dismissing anything with a wide survey period or based on RVs rather than LVs.
Feelings over data/reality. Reminds me of the end of the Clinton and Obama administrations. Republicans acting like the nation is on the verge of destruction and only they can save us. Given their track record, it's puzzling where they get this confidence.

Educated does not equal competent. She has been given a lot of what she has accomplished in her career. She can not carry herself or come up with her own ideas...if you can't see that you are not a serious person. If you needed an attorney in your life and met with her, what are the odds you would hire her after sitting with her for any length of time? They have been able to hide her until the last few weeks, and now look at what the polls, odds and momentum are saying. Her campaign is past its peak, she is on the descent....and like mountain climbers, more people die on the way down because they plan for the climb but not the descent.
