Trump pledges that as president he would immediately launch “the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.” As a model, he points to an Eisenhower-era program known as “Operation Wetback,” using a derogatory slur for Mexican migrants. The operation used military tactics to round up and remove migrant workers, sometimes transporting them in dangerous conditions that led to some deaths. Former administration officials and policy experts said staging an even larger operation today would face a bottleneck in detention space — a problem that Trump adviser Stephen Miller and other allies have proposed addressing by building mass deportation camps.

$100 says he concentrates on blue states. I drove through Washington, Louisa, and Muscatine counties today. Lots and lots of folks living in single wides along 92 and 70 that should be condemned, but some slum lord is letting illegals live there in squalor. Then I got off the highways and took a closer look. It's amazing how parts of rural Iowa look like a 3rd world country. Kim Reynolds and the Republicans of Iowa somehow cannot see them. I doubt Trump will, either.Someone has to work those poultry barns and work the 3rd shift at Tyson in Columbus Junction.

Passing the current bill would keep 2 million out, add nearly 100k detention beds, speed up asylum and deportation hearings by 400%, and provide a legal mechanism to fully close the border for extended periods for the first time. Stuff Republicans have called for for 30 years.

So of course Trump and Johnson want none of that actual improvement in immigration law. Just more red meat soundbites about nonsense policies that will be thrown out by the courts, and thus allow Republican businessmen processor and Construction company owners to keep their cheap, wage-depressing illegal labor while GOP pols continue to pretend to want to do something to stop it.

The rule of law must prevail.
The rule of law us prevailing RIGHT NOW. That's the problem. Social media allows illegals to game the system.

The law says anyone who requests asylum must be given a hearing before being deported. The problem is there is not enough funding to building detention facilities to hold them, or judges and personnel to process them. So legally, they have to be released on the streets. The Rule of Law is prevailing. 80% of asylum requests are rejected in hearings. The problem is the 12 year backlog for new requests.

The Republican Bill passed in the Senate solves this. Massive increase in asylum processing and detention. Legal basis for closing border in numbers exceed our ability to process them.

The current disaster is the result of the Rule of Law. Changing the law to stop it is being rejected by Speaker Johnson and Trump. Why do you support keeping the current system? Why do you support Johnson and Trump bringing in millions of illegals when a single afternoon's vote could end it permanently?

It's all campaign BS. MF'er belongs in jail. He's 10x worse than any illegal immigrant coming into this country. Rid the country of POSs like Trump and we'll all be better off moving forward
Good for Trump, I would like to see them put a bounty on illegals. Even at $100 a greaser I could round up hundreds and probably gross 50K a week.

Your post operates under the false assumption that everyone here is under an asylum claim.

A lot of illegals are in abusive relationships. It’s best we separate the families to ensure the abuse ends.

Every day he has to say something more disgusting to than the day before to keep his name in the news. What a shit stain of a human being. He's going to bring back bounties for scalps here before too long.
Water fountain segregation is coming. Mark the time and date: Feb 22, 2024 7:10 Central.

Haley outraised Trump in campaign fundraising in January.

Could signal some weakness...just keep talking, Donald.
His small donor #s have dropped by over 200k from 2019.
Maybe some folks have decided they are tired of paying Trump's defense lawyers?

It would be nice if we could have an honest discussion in America about illegal immigration and how to properly address it. This board is a great example of why that will never happen.

It will take someone like you to start it. When the trolls or far left/righters start one it doesn't have a chance. Heck, when the trolls start one, half of us won't even see the thread.

Here's my opinion:

I don’t know how that fool has not been banned.

There being mods cracking down on trolling in all.

He’s on my ignore list - didn’t even see it. Racist posts get you the heave ho for me.

The GOP, and it's voters, can still turn away from him without too much difficulty. They just don't want to, no matter how much we hear otherwise.

Why would they? Agent Orange is giving them everything they could ever hope for - owning the libs and terrorizing “the other” aka women, the poor, the homeless, brown people, black people, immigrants, foreigners, Muslims, LGTBQ and whoever else they look down upon. He truly is their messiah.

That's another topic we can't seem to have a rational discussion on either, racism. Black American's aren't a homogenous group of people. Yet we want to treat them as such. I encourage people to sit down and have the hard conversations with your black friends, neighbors and family members. You'll get quite the range of sincere opinions on a wide-range of topics.

For example, after the George Floyd incident, I went for a long walk with Odell Haggins' cousin (who surprisingly worked for me) and his thoughts on issues of racism were very eye opening.

I get the sense that it's far more simple than that. In my experience, those that sound off the most about independent spirit and work ethic tend to be those that have the hardest time admitting that they were wrong.
