The people that are bitching about wanting some form of repayment would be wise to read THEIR justifications on how we would inevitably be repaid 2 and 3 years ago when people started asking why we were paying for a war on the other side of the world.
That seems to be a point of contention now that it's time to get some payment.

And you posted an article that had nothing to do with illegal immigrants voting and in any event the discussion was about Ukraine.
Point is that illegal immigrants in Ukraine, I.e. Russian settlers and soldiers would sway the vote in Ukraine. Illegal immigrants in the United States have zero outcome on elections.

It is fair to debate the economic or military role the US plays in this war. I am good with people challenging the investment - that is the type of thing we should be debating.
What makes no sense is having one of the ancillary parties to the conflict (us) and the bad guy aggressors in the conflict (Russia) decide on an outcome without the people we have been defending this whole time at the table. And without the support of the other nations backing Ukraine.
We don’t have the right to play that role. Europe and Ukraine have decided they don’t want to just give Putin what he wants so whatever Trump comes up with his not going to actually be implemented. The following are the outcomes of this disastrous approach:
1) We will piss off, or even lose, important economic/military allies we have had since WW2.
2) we are simply wasting time and money with no pro-US outcome possible. If we want to save money we can withhold funding without agreeing to give Putin anything.
3) we are signaling to China, NK, etc. that expansion isn’t going to be challenged much. This makes the world far less safe and far less stable
There is no calculus where a Trump negotiated non-settlement to this conflict is a positive for the US.
You act as though we don't benefit from Russia not being a military superpower.
I see how you arrived there, I don’t want them to be a super power, but if 60 billion isn’t enough, plus the 73 billion the rest of tb world has contributed, when is enough, enough? There has to be some end to this conflict, and unless Ukraine wants to give us the same deal they’re giving the rest of the world, I’m fine seeing them swim without some floatees for a bit so they can appreciate what we’ve done.
