Little bit of a different group today for us. No Petras. But, we did speak to Richman, Jones, VanValkenberg, Lachey, Moss, and Campbell.
One interesting nugget was that the pass rush package that they have been running where Waggoner drops down to the DT spot and usually Evans comes in is called the "Fast Guys" package. Original title, I guess.
Kent State runs a very fast paced offense. They try to get a play off every 15-20 seconds, so that's going to be a challenge this weekend for the Iowa defense. They have been running fast periods in practice. Sometimes running three plays in a row very quickly by the scout team and things of that nature trying to simulate the speed.
Fun talking to Lachey about his development. He said at the end of basketball season in his senior year he was about 212 pounds and now he's at 250. Said he arrived at Iowa at 227 pounds. As many know, his dad is the color commentator for Ohio State, so he's not at Luke's games. He said they don't talk a whole lot of football, but his dad, who is a former OL, have given him some advice on blocking from time to time.
