Tyler Linderbaum returning to Iowa in 2021

Wow, great news. I wish him the very best next year and beyond. This news has to put a smile on the face of every Hawkeye, coach, teammate or fan.

Fantastic news! The O line got a huge boost there. Interior of the line should be very good again. Tackles will be the question but there seem to be good options at least.

so, who do we have for the O-line next year? It sounds like Kallenberger at one tackle, Ince at a guard, Lindy at center.

Anybody care to speculate on the other two pieces?

Gotta play your top guys so I'm thinking Britt will be at a guard spot. Need all the guys to add strength and size in the offseason.
I can’t imagine Britt playing over Ince or Shooter. Both those guys were key parts of the great unit we saw this year. I think Linderbaum will be done next season after he wins the Rimington.

You may be too young to remember but in 2002 we beat Minny and went to the Orange Bowl (bad result). Myself and 3 buddies from law school were at the Minneapolis Hilton where the team was staying. And a table over in the bar was a Robert Gallery group. Probably like 8-10 people. Some guy from the table (maybe dad, uncle, no clue) stood up and yelled to the bar Robert will win the Outland next year. Which he did. I am thinking the Bomb is gonna do the same next year.

You have to feel good about the offensive line going into next year not just because of TL, but from the vast improvement of the run game in 2020.

Leistikow projects the starting 5 to be LT-Kallenberger, LG-Ince, C-TL, RG-Schott, RT-Plumb. That makes sense based on what we saw this past year. If any backups were to jump to the first team it would be Britt at RG (I think Ince is more solidly a starter than Schott). It depends how much Britt has advanced but he seems to have the physical tools already. Cronk might be back too since he did not have a healthy or great season. DeJong, Elsbury, Richman will all get snaps. Maybe a true freshman like Davidkov who is already huge could get snaps too.

I would think/hope Britt over Schott. Britt has the frame and athleticism of an nfl player. Schott is a good story and would be a good backup for both guard spots.

Keep an eye on Elsbury, Richman, and DeJong next year. Don't be shocked to see one of them starting by Sept./Oct after they get a little more seasoning. All three are ahead of the learning curve and already have B1G OL ready frames. I echo everyone that is high on Britt. His athleticism and skill could be too hard to keep off the field next year. Expect to see him either starting or a regular rotation guy at guard. Getting Linderbaum back is massive right now and should drastically change the outlook of the OL and the offense for next year. He has nearly the smarts of Bruce Nelson at the position combined with the power blocking of some of the All-time OL greats at Iowa.

what is everyone's thoughts on Plumb and how good he is? I sort of got the impression he was still not full size for a tackle, but I could be wrong. I think he started one game.

He played 24 snaps against PSU and started vs Nebraska and Illinois. He weighs 293 pounds now and graded out on PFF higher than Jackson or Kallenberger this season.
