Tyrone Tracy

IIRC, Tracy came in as a RB/WR but didn't want to play RB. That worked for us because we had more talent at RB and more need at WR. Note that he played WR at Purdue for a year before switching. It wasn't about our staff being blind or Purdue's being quick. Lots of guys are stubborn about switching positions. AJ Derby comes to mind. Like Tracy, he finally relented as a senior and it paid off.
Purdue played him in the slot….where he was much more of a fit. We spent an offseason and a half playing him in the primary outside receiver position. Again, it was really bad evaluation by our offensive coaches.

I don't think it was bad evaluation - it was a recruiting failure at the WR position. We had other slot guys, and Tracy may have been the best option outside. He played pretty well out there early in his career backing up ISM.

We will have to agree to disagree. They had Chuck Sizzle playing behind him. Since they played Tracy out there, there should have been more bubble screens and things of that nature just to get the ball to him in space. The good thing is we have a new OC that appears to be geared to utilize what he has.

Again, forget who the. O/C was but remember who the QB was! Much more important.
You guys wanna blame the O/C for shit that goes well beyond his pay grade..The QB has been tge Achilles Heel at UIowa for many years now…and that guy is targeted by the HC.
Tracy left because the QB couldn’t throw him the ball! Not very complicated. At Purdue, guess what…

Tyrone left because both Keagan Johnson and Arland Bruce IV had moved past him in the amount of playing time on the field.

He had a few games where he blew up. Some of the best stats a Iowa WR has had in a long time

Then just disappeared the following year before transferring.

He was another playmaker that Brian could not figure out how to use once KOK left.
You really can't make this stuff up. Much of the fan base has said we haven't had any WR talent. Now we have lost 3 of those "untalented receivers", 2 of which have been drafted and another who has a couple of SEC offers. Maybe, just maybe, the problem has not been a WR talent problem, but a KF coaching problem.

Not saying these guys were all Americans

But we have had players show some sparks from time to time and then completely disappear

I do think it was losing Stanley who wasn’t the most consistent himself but his 59% seemed like 99% compared to what we saw with Spencer and Hill

Also when KOK left that’s when the route tree went to complete shit

QB sucked followed closely by a clueless OC, and a sieve OL! Pick your poison. ☠️

A witch’s brew that produced one of the worst Offenses in the country…dare I say one of the worst in the past decade as well?🤪

The O/C deserves about 30% of the blame. I will not “dog pile” Brian. The O/C runs the offense the HC approves. If you wanna keep your job, you do the bosses budding.
Kirk had always had a blind spot when it comes to his QB. Forever! No team in the nation has won more games with limited QB skills more than Iowa/Kirk. His refusal to address the QB skills problem has caught up with him and it’s a real soup sandwich now. But make no mistake about it, Kirk is the guy who is most responsible for this mess. Not Brian, not Greg and not O’Hara. Kirk has done a phenomenal job at Iowa… except for how he has handled his QBs.

Ok. Sure.
You seem smart. Seems totally logical someone would make a new handle that is nearly identical to their current troll handle, only to deny that it is them. If I didn’t want to be associated with the guy, wouldn’t you think I would choose a different handle?

Trying. Too. Hard.

Wow! Tyrone had 113 rushing attempts and 19 receptions last season playing in the slot? Interesting!

I don’t understand when posters here don’t link the lack of QB capabilities and the lack of QB recruits with the OC? That’s the problem! BF and GD both had no clue of who to recruit, why to recruit them, and what system they were trying to put in place! Result; no QB talent! Pretty simple concept.

True, but the KF offensive ineptness extends way beyond his handling of QBs.

Perhaps….but Kirk and “his” offense has won a lot of football games through the years. You may not like it but you have to admit that it is effective WHEN EXECUTED.

Kirk’s game plan is not geared to score a lot offensive points to begin with. About m5-6 offensive possessions a game. His wins are based on field position, special teams play and defensive control. But this IS a winning game plan at UIowa.
