Tyson v. Paul fight

I wasn't able to watch.

Can you guys summarize it so I don't have to wade through 13 pages?
First round: pretty even. Tyson landed a couple left hooks but nothing clean. Paul landed some clean jabs.

Second round: Tyson was still moving and throwing some punches but Paul was starting to land more frequently.

Third-Eighth round: Tyson completely gassed, got hurt at least once. Not throwing punches. Standing on the outside with hands up. Paul landing occasionally but taking no chances for the easy decision.

One sided affair. Mike looked 58.

Thanks.

Do you think this was a real fight or fake?

Tyson got in a few good shots the first couple rounds, probably won the first two, but also took a few shots and looked hurt after the third. Tyson looked gassed and mostly danced around for the last five rounds, never got really aggressive and barely attempted any punches. Tyson took punches ok and just kind of rode it out to the end.

Paul for the most part kept his gloves too low, danced around, and hit a number of jabs, way more than Tyson, but not much real power behind them. Paul despite winning pretty much rounds 3-8 still seemed tentative, as thought he didn't want to go for a knockout out of fear it would be a bad look or something. As expected, definitely didn't live up to the hype.

A story in three acts:
1. Insane degree of overhyped marketing for a fight that could easily be father vs. son.
2. Terrible execution by Netflix to the point that most could not watch (I watched a live Twitter stream of some guy recording the jumbotron in the arena). People are big mad.
~Interlude: a couple of pretty good undercard bouts, if you could get them to stream.
3. Fight actually happens. Most can't watch because Netflix shit the bed. Dumb as shit pre-bout antics. Tyson looks decent for an old man for part of one round. Then something resembling a middle school slow dance ensues for the next seven rounds with very little activity or landed blows for either guy. Paul wins by unanimous decision, rightfully so even in this scripted joke. Obvious money play for them, with maybe a chance for Paul to get a fight against a real boxer.
Epilogue: What little honor remained in the once great sport of boxing was squandered on this farce. I'm glad Iron Mike didn't die, but he is mostly rust at this point. Final conclusion, wrestling remains the king of all sports.

Have you seen a recent clip of Axl Rose on tour with GnR? Same vibe for me.

Can’t ever go back.
I see AC/DC is going to announce a tour here soon. Debating to go or not, I know it's 20 years too late, but I've never seen them. I know they are way past their prime, seen some clips from last year where Brian Johnson can't sing anymore. Still might have to do it, but with super low expectations.

Saw the Eagles last fall too for the first time. Also 20 years too late, that show looked like it was at a retirement home. Joe Walsh singing sounded like a muppet impersonating Joe Walsh. Don Henley still sounded ok at times, but more than half their songs were by replacements and the rest were meh.

If tickets aren't too expensive, it's probably worth going.

My buddy saw Tyson doing court ordered community service back in the 1990's in Washington D.C.

He said Tyson was roped off and he couldn't talk to him. He said Tyson wasn't that tall but his hands were bigger than your head.

CSB.

So how much did they make?

Saw ac/dc for the first time in 1980 and it was incredible!! My kids all grew up listening to them so I would love to go to their concert with my kids 45 years later!!

In fairness, I didn't deem that real boxing. The match never should have been sanctioned. But it does more harm than good for a sport like boxing which already had issues and low popularity.
TBF it didn’t qualify for betting in my state because it was a farce.

I think the two real undercards helped boxing. They were both great fights that went the distance. The Taylor decision hurt credibility.

I dunno. Most people missed the main event anyways. A LOT of people that have never cared about boxing actually watched it. And enjoyed it. Watched the undercards out at the sister in laws house around a bunch of hillbilly hunting type buddies of theirs. None had any idea how fight cards work and that there was actually more than one match going on. I saw a group of people interested in something that resembles a ball game that went back and forth vs a melee that's over in 10 minutes like all this UFC shit that pushed boxing aside.

I lived boxing when I a kid. My dad had a descrambler he got from a dude at work so I got to watch all the pay per view at the peak of boxing. It was nostalgic watching and getting interested in it even if I didnt know who the fighters were. It makes me want to catch more boxing again. It'd be cool if that one event can be a catalyst for more boxing events.
