I find it troubling that you are ok with the revelations that have come to light about this "process".

I'm surprised that a conservative who likes to decry our federal government for misuse of power/backdoor deals/etc. will applaud a process that literally kept members of the BOARD OF REGENTS in the dark on who they were secretly meeting with about a job opening.

Don't think political ideology is the driving force. More of the academia bubble being challenged. Many yell the process being rigged. But let's not forget from interview stage on, the faculty was less then professional toward him.

This is nothing more than Branstad screwing up a process to cook his desired result. Branstad took a process and trashed it. He can do that...he is the Governor. This had nothing to do with political ideology. It's about the process. If Culver and a democratic led BoR had followed a similar manner in selecting a corporate executive for Iowa's president the complaints would have been just as prevalent.

Hmmm, I don't think this rates very high among the reasons people have been protesting his selection.
The fact Rastetter created a sham search is probably number one, followed by the perception by many (rightly or wrongly) that Harreld's unqualified is next.
