With Uthoff and Uhl both in the game...boy, what a matchup nightmare for teams who like to play man to man. Those two can shoot it from beyond the arc...and the two big guys who guard them are forced to open up the middle and cover them. Open lane for the rest of the team...sweet.

Uhl has that shooter's urge and confidence, now, it seems. I would too, after banking a three off the glass vs MSU... He is developing a nice shot and wants to use it.

Uhl has a little of the reluctance that Uthoff had as a sophomore. Not so much shooting the three, but driving to the bucket. The guy has such good handles and is surprisingly quick...one day, when he gains the confidence not to look for it but just knows when to go...he's going to be a handful to guard.

Agree on Uhl...more confidence...watch out. All the tools are there. A bit too much thinking...but he is just a baby, ready to start letting it rip. I wish he would let his hair grow longer...higher...makes him look taller.

Uhl still doesn't know how to finish around the rim. When he figures out that he should go strong to the rim, with two hands when possible, he really could become a match up nightmare. He is going to have problems getting off his funky chest high shot, if/when he becomes one of Iowa's top options on offense, unless opponents are afraid of his ability to go to the rim..

I loved Aaron White...however, with Iowa having shooters in place now, the offense seems to stall much less. White, struggling to shoot from outside, or hesitant, often caused the action to stop...even as the other team backed off his outside shot. The offense seems more fluid now, more dangerous, with U2, Baer, et. al. alll threats to shoot it and shoot it well from outside or mid-range. Plus, when White was hesitant to shoot and the opponent backed away...the lane was clogged with an extra defender. Fran's system works best when most of the players are a threat to shoot from outside, with some amount of success. I am not a coach...but that is how it appears to me, less stalling, standing around, waiting to see what might happen with White's move to the basket or whatever.

And Mike is doing a pretty good job and finding these shooters:)

Mike looks elite when the others make their jump shots and layups...for sure! I have been a critic of MG...his inconsistency...not his effort. I am very happy for him, with the recent, and perhaps season long success...that he goes out with a monster year at the helm...well, what could be better. He seems like a great guy and 100% effort. Good for him x a million...

I've been skeptic of Uhl's 3 point shooting. It is an awkward shot he launches from the chest. However, it is going in and makes him very dangerous because most big guys can't guard that and the drive. Throw in Baer and we can field a team with 4-5 legitimate 3 point threats who can also drive the ball. THAT is impressive.

Having two 3 pt shooting bigs Uhl and Uthoff makes us resemble a Bo Ryan team and yes as OP writes, that does create lanes for drivers. We don't really have a great dribble drive finish guys but are passable. Baer is pretty good getting inside paint an finishig, Jok not so much. Uthoff of course is a star and can finish with both hands. Gesell is finishing this year on dribble drive and actually getting a friendly whistle one in awhile.

If Uhl is stays consistent with that 3pt shot this season and he improves on his finishing in paint, he can be a star and make this a B1G title contender. Woodbury is nice to have in pocket as true Big post defender/glue guy.

We have an advantage in the B1g that no one else has. A lot of good guards in the league, some good bigs, but no one can match up with the legit forwards we bring.
