The Field caught up with us a bit.
Berge down 5-0 at the break but storms back for 9-7 win! His Turkish opponent was completely gassed.
Berge with a fantastic 2nd period, wins 9-7. Was down 5-0 at the break. Berge gassed TUR hard. Multiple pushouts and 2 tds. TUR even tried the ol' "injury" bs, but didn't help.
Watching Berge melt that guy the entire second period was awful. Great for us but how do you send a guy that out of shape to intl competition.
love that we're seeing some success from guys at/going to smaller programs. Cal Baptist and SDSU with world finalists!
Just bullied Feldman in that one. Tough, tough matchup.(Feldman lost 11-1)

I thought for certain Volk was going to lose in the last 30 seconds. He became a defensive wrestler in the second period and it nearly cost him.
Agreed. From what I remember from the team trials(mainly the Jesuroga match), he's pretty defensive minded, so wasn't surprised.
Wasn't the most exciting 2nd period to watch. But it's the World finals, so just do what you gotta do to win.

My nephew wrestles in the Greco-Roman portion (77 kg) of the tournament at 2 a.m. CDT on Friday. Reading this thread is getting me excited.
That sucked! Could have gone either way on the review. I like the new freestyle rules better, but this is one of the things that drives me crazy as the guy in control doesn’t necessarily get the points.
and now wyoming with a world champ. great for the college landscape
One other gripe, I think scoring rules should be updated so the scoring wrestler gets both the exposure AND the TD. No TD is awarded if exposure occurs first.

that azeri was something else. incredible body awareness. give him some lungs and he's a complete package.
I thought his lungs might propel him to victory but Mesenbrink gave that match away with sloppy defense.
