maybe off topic but I don't think so. If there is major traction against football, all levels, how soon before UFC is shut down? Has to be at least as high if a risk per person.

I hope it's shut down tomorrow, my son does this against my better wishes. I hate it and and have tried many times to get him to quit. He plans on going pro after his one last amateur fight the end of this month. So far he hasn't really taken a beating but he eventually will. I HATE UFC

Boxing should be shut down long before UFC if your arguement has feet.

Nothing is getting "shut down". That's not how things work in this country. The NFL may need to change to avoid lawsuits (stuff like no more kickoffs), but it's not going anywhere.

The biggest issue to me with football is it it stays in public schools..... I don't believe there are any high school combat sports teams so not an issue there either

What's your specific hate against it? Would you feel differently if he was slamming his head around on a football field for the Hawks? I'm not saying this to be a dick but I've been an MMA fan for quite awhile now and just curious as to what your hangups are. You're obviously a huge Hawkeye fan so how do you differentiate between the two very physical sports.

Okay so I have trained MMA for many years, even back when it was still Miletich Martial arts in Bettendorf, it has been statistically proven that MMA fighters get hit a significant amount less in the head than boxers and football players, it's mixed martial arts, so many of the times they are on the ground, wrestling, etc. . Plus also you have to take into consideration that UFC fighters have maybe 2 fights a year. There is way more head contact in football and boxing.

UFC won't be shut down any time soon. Jesus. I bet you don't let your kids play dodgeball either.

Why would it get shut down? There are no hidden risks for the sport like they say there have been with the NFL.

You get hit in the head a lot less as a UFC fighter then a football player. It's not necessarily the strength of the blow, its the repetition of blows that seems to be causing CTE. Every padded practice and every game involves lots of head hits in football.

It just seems barbaric to me. Guess I don't like watching guys beat the h*** out of each other. Im a lover not a fighter (actually ain't much of a lover anymore either) My son was a darn good fb player too and looking back he definitely suffered more than one concussion. One is on you tube actually, he was returning a punt and got hammered and was totally out of it. As far as mma, to each is own, there are a lot of people that like it as I'm sure there is a lot that don't.
