United flight forced to turn around after hitting a coyote during takeoff

I find it odd that gigantic human, missile and tank hauling type machines can be sidelined by geese and coyotes. Terrifying actually.

Coyotes are impressive animals. One day I drove to the homeplace to check on Mom and noticed a coyote standing in the driveway staring at the house. Mom always had 6 to 15 cats hanging around the place, they controled the mice so we tolerated them. About a week later I went back see Mom again and noticed no cats hanging around. I asked Mom what happened to cats, she shrugged and said "they just disappeared".

I take my chocolate lab for hikes in the woods behind our subdivision and last winter I spotted a coyote across the creek from us just laying down starring directly at us. My dog didn't notice it at first and then she finally got a smell of it and started freaking out. She wanted to cross the creek and go after it but I quickly began to briskly walk away and call her over. We walked about a hundred yards away and I looked back and it was slowly following us on the other side of the creek. I kept walking, after another hundred yards I look back and it was gone. Whew. I turn back around and follow the creek. Then all of a sudden, the damn coyote appears directly across us (it went down and walked below the creek line so we couldn't see it moving). I yelled at the dog and we made a beeline for home.

Sitting on our deck and hearing them yip as they triangulate prey is a little offsetting. Seeing them all mangy in daylight also isn’t great.
