Updated Heights/Weights for Men's Basektball

I see Okey Ukah is back this season. He may end up playing some as an enforcer in the middle.

Looks like Uthoff went from 210-220, Uhl from 195 to 216, Woodbury from 245-249. Old weights are still listed on ESPN. Also, Woodbury was 222 in high school, so even though he still looks skinny, he's put on 27 pounds - that's Doyle-esque right there.

Right. Woody and Uthoff are seniors and won't return next yr. Thus 1 player over 6'7 next yr as I stated

My mistake, I misread next year as this year. You are correct. Hopefully Wagner plays bigger than he's listed, and then we have Kriener and Cook (hopefully) coming in for some size.

Forgot about Jones as well, but we'll see how well he can size up on the block.

So one returner next yr that is taller than 6'7

Also no returning scholarship player under 6'5" so it is pretty apparent the type of player that Fran is after. The versatile player from 6'4" to 6'8". In 2016/17 we will have 13/14 of this type of player on the roster with only Bohannon being the exception.

8 of the 9 returning scholarship players are 6'5" - 6'7"

With the McCaffery boys and Weiskamp commitments that will continue to be the case for the foreseeable future.

I pointed this exact thing out in a different thread. No 7'ers, but almost everyone will be 6'4 to 6'9. I'm good with that.

no worries, Pemsl is 6ft9 now, up from 6ft8 just recently. and due for a another growth spurt. By the time he gets to Iowa he will be 7ft easy ;) and he's pretty thick to boot. You need a Center, that's you're man.

Uhl is listed 6ft9 but that was before the new hairdo. 6ft10 easy. His arms are so long he can scrape the ice off a windshield while sitting inside a car. He can play under the basket also.

The next level for Iowa is deadly 3PT shooters and Fran appears to assembling a cast of players to fit that bill.

I would be happier with a good group of 6'8" or 6'9" athletes with long arms, about 235-250 pounds of muscle, and mobility to dance around taller guys, than I would a couple of 6'11" stiffs or stilts.

That's not a knock on Woody, at 7'1" his footwork on defense is superb. But just being honest, if we can have a 6'9" kid that can defend as well as Woody (no small task) but plays above the rim? Wouldn't we all rather have that than say, Hass at Purdue, who can't even stay on the court for twenty minutes due to fatigue.
