Upper Iowa @ Iowa Baseball

Iowa faces Upper Iowa at 6pm on Wednesday in Iowa City. Coach Heller went to and played at Upper Iowa. This will be Iowa's final midweek game of the season. The last two midweek games have been cancelled. Upper Iowa is 11-29 on the year and this is their final game of the season it appears.

Nick Hibbing will start for Iowa.

and coached...took them to the DIII World Series in the mid 90's...outstanding record while at UIU. You could tell then he was going to be a great coach and have D1 opportunities. Rick lettered in 3 sports at UIU, but baseball was his best sport, SS, power hitter, speed, great arm. UIU has had some tough seasons of late, I don't expect this to be too competitive, pitching has been ok, but have had a tough time producing runs this year, believe they have lost something like twelve 1 run games this past year. Good to see Heller scheduling his alma mater, the current coach Mark Danker was brought in as an assistant when Rick took over and until recently has done a great job with the program.

Iowa wins 8-3 and improves to 27-17 on the year with B1G series against Illinois and Purdue left.

Iowa went Johnny Wholestaff on UIU as Hibbing, Hedrick, Allen, Mandel, Shulista, and Radtke all pitched. It wasn't the sharpest pitching from Iowa as UIU managed 14 hits on Iowa. Andrew Hedrick gets credit for the W. No pitcher had more than 35 pitches.

It makes me wonder with Hedrick going tonight if he is in the rotation this weekend?

Dan Potempa was the offensive leader for Iowa as he was 3-4 with 4 RBIs including a HR and a double.
Jake Yacinich was 3-4 with 2 RBIs,
Tyler Peyton was 2-4 with a double.

Iowa hosts Illinois this weekend at 4pm, 11am, and 1pm. The 11am game on Saturday is on BTN. Get out and support Iowa for their last weekend if you can make it!

Now I know that BTN hates Iowa... The morning they pick to move BTN from channel 439 to 410 on Dish Network is the day we have an early mornin Student U broadcast of this game at 6:30 AM PST, one of the few Iowa games on BTN this year. Got messed up and didn't get recorded as a result. Just recording the end of the game.

I believe they have decided to broadcast Dantonio buying somebodies sole on a loop for three hours instead.
