I would argue that every sports storyline has a racial element to it - this is not isolated to Caitlin Clark.
So dumb. There are more white girls playing basketball across the US than any other race. Part of the hate CC receives from some of the $EC is this perception that basketball is a black sport, so promoting CC is a dis to them. It's silly, the best person should get the acclaim and coverage. That is what happened.
I understand why someone would write that article, we have a bunch of loons on both sides of the political spectrum in this country. What I find amazing is an editor actually approved it for publishing.
It is unfortunate but there are people who harbor white guilt and believe racism exists everywhere in the world and feel they need to beat that drum early and often. It is more likely that people who talk and think like this writer are the actual racists and believe by screaming racism, they will draw attention away from themselves, the actual racists.
