Wife and I are going to Vegas in March to see Garth Brooks at Caesars. Is that the best place to stay in that area? I have almost no experience with Vegas as I’ve only been once and that was for a conference. Rooms at Caesars Palace are really pricey I assume because of the residency. I’d pay the 400 if that’s the only decent place to stay in that area. We will be in town for three nights.

Get a players card at every casino you gamble at. Even if you gamble very low amounts. You'll get free room offers almost instantly. I haven't paid for a room in Vegas in over 3 years. And I'm not a big gambler.

Will be following this thread. Also taking the wife to Garth in December. I know absolutely nothing about Vegas.

The last time I was in Vegas was the last time I gambled except for a very occasional lottery ticket. I bet $100 on the over Iowa vs Indiana football. Indiana had Randal-El and the over hit at the half. Cool story I know. We will probably take a couple hundred to gamble and keep in mind the players club stuff.

We looked at December but the flights were insane. We have to go on a Friday or Saturday night and that makes it pricey.

My wife and I have been staying at the Cromwell the last few times we have been there. It is smaller but still part of the Caesars family. It is easier to get around and up to your room. It is across the Strip from Caesars Palace and next door to the Flamingo. Don’t stay at the Flamingo, btw.

The Cromwell is in the center of everything we like to do.

Sell everything you own and put it all on red.

You're welcome.
Don’t do this.

I see you are going in March. Are you going the same week March Madness starts. They will charge more for rooms.

Can’t go wrong with Palazzo. It’s fairly new, all rooms are large, and usually very reasonably priced. It’s right in front of the globe and basically right in the middle of the strip( if you want to experience LV to the fullest)

I am finding that out now unfortunately. I bought these tix the day they went on sale last December.

Usually flights from dsm to Vegas are $150-200. The only decent flights I’m seeing are $350+.

The Linq is part of the Ceasars group as well. Nice, modern hotel. Reasonably priced and in the middle of the strip (right across the street from Caesars).

Caesar's is pretty central on the strip so it's a good location. I prefer MGM properties but CP is nice and it has a good Sportsbook. What used to be the Mirage is right next door. Not sure if it has fully reopened as a Hard Rock yet or not. Weather will be good for walking around in March if you don't end up stating at CP.

Yea, I have stayed at The Linq. You describe it the way I see it.
Neither The Linq or The Cromwell are as “glamorous” as Caesars Palace.

Another vote for Linq. Across the street from ceasers and Bellagio. Rooms were clean and sufficient, especially for being a bit cheaper. It's on the promenade and has it's own monorail stop. Monorail is a great way to head up/down the strip for cheap.

Caesars is nice but expensive and massive. Depending on where your room is it could be every bit of a 15 plus minute walk to the front door. Plenty to do though and it is nice. If you don't care for the upscale hotel you could look at a cheaper option nearby. It is easy to travel the strip from one hotel to the next. Limitless supply of taxis and ubers available for that. If you have additional time consider seeing a cirque show. Ka and o are the best ones by far (at mgm/bellagio respectively). If you're wanting to site see the strip I'd say the bellagio, venetian and palazzo are the best in class on the main part of the strip and the Wynn, encore and now fountain blue by the convention center are also very nice. Endless shopping and fine dining at any one of those places.

Sell everything you own and put it all on red.

You're welcome.
This is terrible advice. You'd clearly wanna go all in on 31 black to make some real money..

The Linq has been good every time I have stayed there. Reasonably priced and centrally located.

Reviews on the Linq seem to be pretty negative but I presume that’s because people are expecting the big fancy Vegas style amenities. It looks like it’s pretty basic, just planted right in the middle of the strip.

Yeah, you pay for location with the Linq.

Going in October and staying at Vdara at the suggestion of my wife's friend. Non-smoking, suites only hotel with no casino. Tucked in behind the Bellagio and Aria.

The Trump International Hotel is non
smoking and has no gaming.
North end of the Strip. I have not been there.

Also check out a golden knights game if you can. Expensive but quite fun. Blue Man Group was ok. Cirque O is fantastic.

I haven't been to Vegas since before Covid, but I always prefer to stay towards the south end of the strip. Seems like there's more to do down there without walking as far. Depending on pricing, I'd take a look at these...

The Palazzo/Venetian (I wouldn't stay any further north than this)
Bellagio
Cosmopolitan
Vdara
Aria

I've also had good luck with 4.5* and 5* Express Deals on Priceline. Keep in mind no matter where you book, they're gonna tack on a pretty hefty Resort Fee (~$50/night).

I'd also recommend spending 1 night walking around Freemont St. If you're into dive bars, there's a fun one called
Hogs & Heifers Saloon a block off of Freemont.

FWIW we booked travel tonight for the concert. My goodness travel is expensive. Flight out of CID for about 1200 total. Room at Linq for about 950 for three nights all in. Concert tickets were right at a grand. Might have been cheaper to wait but it might have been more expensive.

Garth Brooks is a fvcking creepy weirdo. Seriously just look up his social media shit.
lol. What does that have to do with seeing him in concert? He puts on a great show. I’m not going to be around forever. He’s not going to be around forever. The money is sitting in my bank account doing nothing. I work 70-80 hours a week so I can say, screw this, I’m dropping 5 grand for a weekend in Vegas.

It is difficult for me to express how little of a shit I give to what the man posts on social media.

Cool, just getting it out there. You wanna spend your hard earned money to watch a narcissistic sociopath by all means do so. Seems stupid to me, but whatever floats your boat.

What's he post on social media?

I just looked up his Twitter and just saw tweets promoting his concerts.

I imagine that most people who reach that level gain a touch of narcissism. Sociopath? I’m going to need to see proof. Like serial killer sociopath? Come on

$1,000 for tickets is nuts. Of course when I saw him live, it was the early '90s at the Iowa State Fair lol.
