Up by 20. We lost by 19 didn't we?
It sure would of been nice to have guards that could shoot huh
This is after a week of Miami being able to practice after watching film from our game. Miami is getting killed. So did we and no way we had a chance but we had a day of rest in between games. How much could we prepare?
Turns out we aren't as bad as people thought for losing
Makes you wonder what would've happened if we got put where Wisconsin is instead.
Probably would've choked against Pitt. But still.

Villanova also had only 1 day. Who has more opportunity to advance scout the 2nd round? A 7-seed or a 2-seed. There's a pretty solid chance the 2 has to look ahead to the 7 -OR- the 10. Less than a 5% chance the 7 had to worry about the 15-seed.This is after a week of Miami being able to practice after watching film from our game. Miami is getting killed. It's pretty hard to think of any scenario where we could have won more than one game in the tournament as bad as we were playing at the end of the year, especially as a 7 seed. I agree we likely would have lost to Pitt. If not, for sure to Xavier. Maybe if we we were a 7 seed we could have beat Syracuse in that region and then MTSU but no way they'd put us in that region as a 7 with MSU a 2. So no scenario I guess. Oh well. Really doesn't matter.Makes you wonder what would've happened if we got put where Wisconsin is instead.

I think if Iowa was playing the way they did the 1st half of the season they might of gave Nova a run for their money.
I agree Nova probably would of beat the Jan. Hawks with their athleticism but probably not by 19 pts. Gesell and Clemons were actually scoring back then and had very few turnovers. That was then.January Hawkeyes vs Villanova right now????
I still got NOVA by 5 because of their guards. They are freaking good! WOW!
Agree! I really think Temple is the only 10 seed Iowa could have beat. It's pretty hard to think of any scenario where we could have won more than one game in the tournament as bad as we were playing at the end of the year, especially as a 7 seed. Jesus Christ. I thought Miami was pretty good too.
Seriously? Woody has T-rex arms and even smaller hands apparently and can't jump a lick. The guy couldn't consistently handle the ball in the paint in a crowd when they tried to get it to him, and then the odds get even worse if he has to dribble and make a move. That doesn't make him Satan, that's who he is. I don't now nor ever did "hate" him for it, but reality is reality. It's darn difficult to turn Mr. Ed into Secretariat.Or even a dominate post player?? I watched some of the NIT the past couple of nights and there were some guys who were 6-7 to 6-9 who would catch it on the block and make nice moves and get to the basket. I couldn't believe it and then I got thinking about Iowa. Did we ever post up Woody? Did we ever put him on the block and got him the ball? I seriously don't remember seeing it at all (even vs temple we had the height advantage).
Maybe I am just thinking too much about the NOVA game, but I do not ever remember us getting the ball in the low block and woody making a move?
