I just have to say that the one non-Hawkeye whose efforts I appreciated this year was Vito. It was gratifying to see him roll two guys who, imo, are fundamentally "counter" wrestlers by attacking relentlessly and efficiently. The kid is a heck of a wrestler and had a spectacular tournament; and wrestled in a way that was entertaining. Good on him.

That finals match was a work of art (no pun intended).

He deserved the OW, insanely impressive semi-final and final matches

There was a moment there at NCAA's where Lee had just gotten pinned, Daton Fix had just gotten majored by Vito, and RBY was losing to Mcgee where I was really wondering WTF was going on. Had a few pops in between sessions and they served beer in the arena, was starting to think maybe I had been overserved

Agreed. When I saw him throttle Fix in the semi's I thought to myself that RBY is going down. It turns out that I was right...which isn't always the case. :) Very, very impressive work by Mr. Arajou.

You wish. Watch the video put out by the NCAA, go to 3:45 in, and watch through to the end. Tell me Vito looks like he's gonna transfer.

Relax, no one was thinking you were getting him away from Cornell. What has been rumored is that he is out of eligibility due to IVY rules. So, yeah, if he can’t wrestle for Cornell, assuming he still wants to wrestle, why not Iowa?

That's been explained a bunch at this point. He wasn't enrolled for 2020-2021, so it doesn't count towards his clock.

Honestly, I haven't read up on it because I really didn't/don't care about the particulars. As much as I follow wrestling, chasing transfers isn't my thing. I was only pointing out the possible reasoning for the hope. Which is why I made sure to say "if" and rumors".

Plus, with the way things are right now, unless I hear it from the horse's mouth, I don't count things for certain. Sort of like Bouzakis saying he is a Buckeye. You can take that to mean he isn't leaving tOSU. But, all the words actually mean is that he is one NOW. I have zero idea if he has any plans to transfer. But, if I were tOSU, I would much rather it said something like I am a Buckeye, will always be one and will graduate as one. The less ambiguity the better...

i don't understand the Bouzakis thing at all. the plan was always for Mendez to start, Bouzakis to RS and then vice versa.

and now Vito?

there's always some wild stuff on this board but sheesh.

Was Iowa not in on Bouzakis pretty hard during his initial recruiting? Are there not rumors that both he and Mendez look like they both may be at the same weight for quite some time? Regardless of whether or not Bouzakis is even considering the move, calling Iowa fans hoping for his transfer "wild stuff on this board" is just being an asshole for the sake of being an asshole...

think what you want. it's "wild stuff" particularly in a world where Bouzakis came out and clarified.

of course you think it's incumbent upon him to have a statement notarized and hung in your office before you believe it.

now it's on to another never-gonna-happen case in Vito. (who by the way, can 100% wrestle another year at Cornell).

but don't let all the facts stop ya from a good conspiracy theory.

No one here thinks Vito is transferring to Iowa. JFC

I’m with you! Could not have been more impressed than I was watching him manhandle a 2x NCAA champ. That match was unbelievable!

Let’s test your actual IQ:

Question #1. What is the name of this site?

Question #2. With the advent of the new transfer portal rules, have transfers made an immediate impact in wrestling, especially at Iowa?

Question #3. Are Iowa fans not allowed to have a wishlist for transfers, especially at a weight where they could really use a high level guy?

Question #4. Is the average fan that posts on a message board supposed to know every aspect of a wrestlers likelihood of transferring and is that person expected to properly vet any/all rumors before posting what they HOPE would happen?

Question #5. What is the name of this site?

Bonus Question #6(2 parter)Are you a dick on this board because many people here don’t like you? Or, are you a dick on this board and that is why many people here don’t like you?

Well deserved OW and it could not have been against anyone more deserving of the loss. He just plain smoked him and made him look SLOW. The next question is can he maintain 57kg and wrestle at this same level for trials?

can I please answer question 6 for him!!!

In my opinion, there are two four timers who aren't four timers. Unfortunately, my opinion doesn't count for anything.
It could be argued that Carl is the only true, deserving 4-timer for various reasons from bad calls to questionable eligibility, etc. That said, as much as I wanted it to be, I don't think Max had a legitimate NF.

Please have at it.
I can't watch that again. It was too hard and heartbreaking live. Same with Metcalf/Caldwell. I did rewatch part of Spencer's match to see just exactly what happened. Live it looked like a chin-whip, and I couldn't believe he got caught in that no matter what his condition.

Just curious as I do not remember. What calls did Dake benefit from? I truly don’t remember.

Also, if he didn’t, you could say since he didn’t redshirt he is the only truly deserving 4 time champ.
