Wait. Trump is hiring a Fox News host as Secretary of Defense?

No. He hired thus guy

"Following graduation from Princeton in 2003, Hegseth joined Bear Stearns as an equity capital markets analyst and was also commissioned as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army National Guard. In 2004 his unit was called to Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, where he served as an Infantry platoon leaderwith the Minnesota Army National Guard. His unit was under the operational control of the 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment 101st Airborne Division. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. Shortly after returning from Cuba, Hegseth volunteered to serve in Baghdad and Samarra, where he held the position of infantry platoon leader and, later in Samarra, as Civil–Military Operations Officer. During his time in Iraq, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and a second Army Commendation Medal.

He returned to active duty in 2012 as a captain. He deployed to Afghanistan with the Minnesota Army National Guard and acted as a senior counterinsurgency instructor at the Counterinsurgency Training Center in Kabul.

Hegseth has been awarded two Bronze Stars for his service overseas. Hegseth, a major, is assigned to the Army's Individual Ready Reserve."

Can anyone please make this make any sense? I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. I told you this would be FAR worse than the last time. “The country survived his first term so it will be fine after his second.” Mother of God with some of you people. We are fooked.

Now that you have seen his background, you must feel stupid.

He's shocked like most people.

Questions about Hegseth's qualifications have been raised by Democrats, Republicans, and those close to President-elect Trump, with Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski saying, “Wow,” and numerous defense officials saying, "Everyone is simply shocked."

Guy also sounds like a POS, but that fits the MAGA mold!

He reportedly persuaded Trump to pardon three American soldiers accused or convicted of war crimes related to the shooting of non-combatants in Iraq. Hegseth, who was a platoon leader at Guantanamo Bay during his military service, defended the treatment of inmates detained there

The guy who said he hadn’t washed his hands on 10 years because germs aren’t real? Yep, that guy.

So this is like the first couple of paragraphs of a ten paragraph or so bio of a potential Secretary of Defense. Except that this is all you have for Hegseth.

You people are such a complete joke. And you pretend that you're the ones in this country that are serious about and most concerned about national defense. Not like those hippie/commie unserious Dems. Just complete jokes.

Your post reminded me of the mouth breathers declaring that Harris could not hold her ground vs. Putin.
How did she do on stage with Donnie?

Putin and Xi are licking their lips over this potential nominee. A Fox talking head running one of the biggest bureaucracies the world has ever seen, with millions of employees and a jaw dropping budget.
This is who Trump is. He doesn’t care that Hegseth is unqualified. He only cares that he said nice things about him.

Seems like the only two foreign policies plays Trump has are cartoonish level tariffs or an occasional phone call that goes nowhere. Theres a reason why his strategy is sit these conflicts out. Not because that necessarily the best move but because quitting is the easiest thing to do.

Most of Trump's picks so far have been pretty solid. I had to double check what site I was looking at because I thought it'd be the onion or Babylon bee. It was not.

NewsNation had an interview with a woman this morning who knew Pete before FoxNews, and she's apparently worked with him extensively on Capital Hill in partnership with Ted Cruz.

The anchor was basically asking her why we shouldn't be skeptical (because reasonable people immediately are). The woman went on to talk about a number of things he's done beyond the military and FoxNews, how he understands how capital hill works, etc. she expressed her confidence in him to do the job.

I'm still skeptical, but I guess we give him a chance. He certainly is many things before FoxNews host, so that's at least a little bit comforting...

Normal presidents usually have their pick of the best experts in the world. Trump is picking Fox news personalities. It's ok to agree that he's at best a mediocre pick and at worst a rubber stamp for Trump's insanity.

All good because "a woman" said it.

HyVee announced a new CEO. He was an excellent checker during his time with the company. Some have questioned his experience and knowledge. TheWop says give him a chance.
