So it looks like Washington has a very good QB. Lots of passing yards. They should’ve beat Rutgers but their field goal kicker is struggling. If Iowa can hold them to field goals, might have a chance . Thoughts on anyone who has watched their games??

Washington is an outstanding football team. It killed itself early with penalties and other mistakes. There was a massive turnover in personnel, but they are starting to click now. There's plenty of talent, so expect Washington to win a lot of games the rest of the way. Iowa will have its hands full on Saturday, I'm pretty sure of that. Can Iowa beat Washington? Maybe. But it would be a lot easier if Iowa started Sullivan at QB, and we know that ain't happening, so if Iowa wins, it will probably take some more mistakes by Washington.

It’s unfortunate the Hawks have to hope the other team makes mistakes in order to win.

I went to the Rutgers Washington game. Washington was such an undisciplined team offensively and with special teams. Didn’t watch the Michigan game but they must have played much cleaner.

Given Iowa's inability to get off the field on D and hold Power 4 teams to FGs instead of TDs coupled with the inability of the offense to generate a viable passing game, I'm not sure we're gonna win this one. The one thing in our favor is that teams in the B1G that have had to travel 2 timezones to play (whether east to west or west to east) are something like a combined 1-9 so far this year. Couple that with what is essentially a 9am kicktime for Washington and that probably gives us a decent chance.

Washington does not worry me. I don't think they are that good. I think we beat Michigan should we play them too.

That said, we can lose to anyone at any time.

Washington sucks on the OL. They lost everyone to the NFL or $EC when Deboer left. It’s patch work. It’s mitigated some by the quick passes plus some protection schemes for deep shots. Rodgers has been surprisingly great with the deep ball.

The defense is actually less talented than last year but Belichick is a real good DC, so they play fundamentally well. I think they’ll be a playoff team in a year or two if they keep him and Fisch. Will need to add pieces to the LOS in the offseason.

That said, I think Iowa gets a quick lead and holds them off. I think Johnson will have a couple huge plays as they stack the box.

I wonder if Bill Belichick will be at the game, given his relationship with KF too.

I’m concerned that UW is coming to town just as they’re starting to jell. They obviously have more talent than UI, and I think our experience advantage may not be enough to overcome that now…

They’re the best team left on our schedule. Get this one, and we can run off a string of wins.

I think this is a good spot for us, but man…this game feels heavy.

How do you know it would be easier if Sullivan started? Obviously you don’t know.

Bill Belichek was at the mich vs WASH game last weekend. Sure he will be in ic this weekend.

I came away slightly underwhelmed the two times I watched Washington. Didn’t catch the Michigan game, but I have a feeling this is a classic KF bounce back game after getting hammered on the road.

Hawks 27-17

KJ 159 yards 2 tds

Hope you're correct.

The Iowa defense will need to not give up 84% completion rate and easy, big pass plays like last week. It is hard but some pass rush will help. Iowa defense has been strong against the run as usual. Bust up a lot of their pass plays, get some pressure to move their qb off his spot and make him pull the ball down. I dont know if their qb is a good runner which always seems to bother hawk defenses.

On offense Iowa needs to get the run game going strong which is easier said than done. UW held down Mich run game pretty well. But Mich had almost no passing game with Orgi in there so UW could work against the run game.

If the hawk pass game is just avg P5 level with 60% completion rate and some chain moving completions then Iowa can win.

Do tell....when was the last time Iowa got pounded on the road and then classically defeated a quality team at home?

I have watched them a couple of times now this year.

They are a good team but not great. They actually remind me a little bit of Iowa. Really solid lines on both sides, some good players sprinkled in on both sides of the ball. Good TE and RB.

I like Iowa here. KF knows how to flush previous weeks and think this helps Iowa along with the early start time/travel. Iowa will have to be able to run the ball effectively to win however.

First of all, I said bounce back game.

Second, 2018 they got throttled by Wisconsin then came back and beat Minnesota. 2016 they got throttled by Penn St and came home to beat 2 Michigan the following week.

Last year, they got beat and came home to beat Michigan State.

Point is, rarely does a KF team put together back to back duds.

I don’t think it was even a dud. Ohio State has studs everywhere and a functional quarterback.

I think most teams come in the night before

I do think they had a good win vs Michigan BUT I also think it was a bit of a mirage. Michigan has looked a little wonky this year. Best win, which is a good one, was a 3 pointer against USC then they come back and almost gag the Minnesota game. Next few weeks will determine their season and which way the arrow is pointing. A bye this week then at Illinois, home agains MSU and home against Oregon.
Washington kind of all over...like us a bit in losing to your in state rival and at Rutgers by 3. The Michigan win gave them some life now. Hope we can stamp it out.

Washington was probably super pumped for Michigan since what happened last year. I think there will be a let down for them at Iowa. Time zone and travel distance are definitely in Iowa's favor. Iowa coming off a loss should motivate them as well as playing at home. I like Iowa 's chances but who knows with this team. If we get a lead we should be okay but if we get behind the pressure might get to us and result in mistakes.

I think it’s a draw. As others have commented, they seem similar to some extents. I would like to say Kinnick should provide the Hawks some advantage, but if the offense sucks, the boo-birds kind of negate that advantage.

Travel may provide some disadvantage for the Huskies, but if our offense sucks, it negates that.

The theme, if IOWA can put together a decent offense, they win. If not, I believe they lose.

Wash, rinse, repeat…really for the remainder of the schedule. So how do the Hawks provide a reliable offense? We all know the answer.

They're coming to IC full of themselves. They'll take little ol Iowa lightly.

KJ runs for 250 yards, 3 toughdowns. Hawks by a million!

After watching our line play this past week (offense and defense) and our QB play, I have very little confidence we will win. My big butt will be in the stadium as usual, but I am losing hope quickly on this team as well as out inability from a coaching staff to make any changes.
Rinse repeat for the past umpteen years...

So 8 years ago?

FYI - 2003 is the last time Iowa went the entire season without losing at least 2 straight.
