WBB 2019-20 Season in general

Doyle was the only Big Ten player listed in the Top 25. That helps to confirm what many of us have been thinking: she's the favorite for Big Ten Player of the Year with a couple weeks of the season left.

I”m hoping for Doyle but am afraid it will go to Kaila Charles on MD for those who wrongly think it should go to a player on the first place team. Even though Kathleen has been consistently the best player. One more reason to root for the upset tomorrow night.

It could also depend on their individual performances in this game, more so than the outcome of the game itself. Maryland has more balanced scoring with all five starters averaging double figures. They are the odds-on favorites. I think that she just needs to keep her turnovers to a minimum, shoot a reasonable percentage, and have better than average assists.

Think positive and GO HAWKS!

At Maryland really shows how great a job Lisa B is doing with her team this year. Iowa's roster is just outclassed against a team like Maryland, yet Iowa is right there with Maryland in the standings. Games like tonight also show why Lisa B really needs Grace Hall or Greta Kampschroeder to commit for '21. Need more ACC/SEC/Pac 12 level athletes.

Maryland ain't ranked #10 for nuthin.
Just giving up so much size and length. Combine that with playing on the road....

Iowa not playing well obviously, Maryland playing pretty good D, but this is Bullshit with the getting hammered and no calls. All of these "traps" there are just a shitload of fouls not called. Womens officiating is just atrocious, that's not entirely why they are getting smoked, but it doesn't help.

Name a Hawk that hasn't.
For sure but she’s supposed to be the best player on the team.

multiple shot clock violations, taking an awful jumper at end of first with 10 seconds left that lead to a layup, multiple bad and lazy passes..... from your senior leader

If Doyle wasn't on the floor they would be down by double what they are.

Maryland must have left everything on the court Thursday night against Iowa they only lead Penn St. by one 46-45 at the half. Granted they are on the road, but giving up 45 points in a half to one of the poorer teams in the conference is not good. Hope Iowa comes out and plays better. " GO HAWKS "

Iowa women score a 97-71 win over Wisconsin.

21-5 now on the season.
It won't feel fulfilling if Iowa doesn't beat Penn State by 40 and Minnesota by 20 in the next two games.

Illinois: 2-12 in Big Ten, Iowa beat them by 36.
Wisconsin: 3-12 in Big Ten, Iowa won by 26.
Penn State: 1-14 in the Big Ten.
Minnesota: 5-9 in the Big Ten.

Lauren Jensen, Lakeville North. Jensen's stellar senior season continued this past week. It started with the guard adding 35 points in a 99-82 win over Burnsville on Feb. 11. Then, Jensen scored 27 points as the Panthers bested Eagan 81-58 on Feb. 14.

Looking at the remaining schedules for everyone, Iowa has probably already locked up a double-bye and #3 seed in the BTT. A win on Saturday over last place Penn State would clinch it. The only two teams who can catch Iowa now by winning out are Indiana and Ohio State, and Iowa has the tie-breaker over both of them.

If Iowa wins out, they can still move into a second place tie with Northwestern IF the Wilcats lose at resurgent Ohio State. T2 would sound better, but either way they wouldn't have to face Maryland until the championship game. I do think Iowa will win out, including at an inconsistent Rutgers team there on the last day.

Oh to have that loss at Nebraska in the first conference game back. Oddly, if Iowa comes in 3rd, they will have beaten both of the teams ahead of them in the standings. They beat Northwestern and split with Maryland.

The start times for the Minnesota and Rutgers games are now listed. They had been TBA all season. They are respectively 630 PM and 11 AM CST.

I think a #3 seed is best case scenario. For that to happen, they would have to beat Minnesota here and Rutgers there plus beat probably Michigan in the BTT quarterfinals. But that tells me they are a shoo-in to host even if they lose at Rutgers and fall to a #4 seed. I would take that, regardless of who they play after that. Unfortunately, Charlie Creme is predicting UConn, but two years in a row in the Sweet Sixteen would look awfully good.

22 straight home conference victories! With a win this weekend, Lisa B would win 15 regular season BIG games for the first time. What an unexpectedly great year.

Flat out amazing, we lose the majority of our scoring and rebounding. Plus our interior defense with Megan and Hannah was solid. The 3 seniors and the coach's deserve high praise for leading this team to the season we've had. Both the media and coach's preseason polls had us in the middle of the conference.
