WBB recruiting for the future

Iowa offered her quite a while ago. Don’t see it happening.

Ndjakalenga Mwenetanda (2022 All Iowa Attack) out of South Dakota & top 20 player in her class names her top 10... Iowa State, UCLA, Texas, Stanford, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Oregon, Duke, Louisville, & Maryland.

Both next year's and the following class have 3 committed who are real good players. It's possible Lisa won't add to those classes. But if lose some players or have interest from top players that would change.

I do wonder about that. Not trying to think negatively, but Czinano and Goodman could be here another 2 and 4 years respectively due to Covid impacting eligibility. We're getting two highly regarded post players in this next class so at least one may not be in line for significant playing time right away.

Iowa is still actively recruiting point guards in the '22-'23 classes. Acacia Hayes ('22) out of Murfreesboro, TN looks to be one of their top targets now. Saniah Tyler ('22) out of STL area is another one with an offer. I am not sure if Emma Ingersoll-Weng ('22) out of IC West is still on the radar or not. With Caitlin's early success others could start showing interest too.

For next years class AJ Ediger (6'3) they plan to play her at the 4 as her game has really developed & Addison O'Grady (6'4) they view as a true post but her game is developing more too as her HS/AAU teammate is top ranked 6'7 Lauren Betts.

It will be interesting how Lisa handles that extra year. Before the season I heard her comment on possibly having Czinano and Goodman together for three years. I suppose the financial shape of the athletic department will play a role in deciding that. More so than with the men's.
I think AJ will pass cook up next year and end up backing up Warnock.

I've been keeping this list of offers/interest updated from page 22. I'll update this one now as anyone posts new information.

Mara Braun ('22) committed to the Gophers yesterday, and she listed Iowa as a finalist. Assume she had an Iowa offer.

I did not know that Kenyon Murray had a daughter who would be a freshman in HS (CR Prairie-class of 2024) and would be the younger sister of the twins. I would think that she might be a potential future Hawkeye.

I don't see her listed in the 2024 list. Any info on her size and talent and position?

McKenna is a 6'0 F & plays for Lady Martin Brothers AAU. If Varsity Bound is correct, her season stats through 3 games for CR Prairie: 12 points, shooting 2/17 (0/2 from 3), 8/14 FT, 9 boards, 6 assists, 2 steals, 1 block.

Her brothers were late developers on the court perhaps she will be too? I hadn't heard of her before.

Sydney Affolter (2021 Team 21): Affolter is a strong physical guard who loves to attack the lane and power through defenders. Her relentless attack to the basket gets her to the free throw line frequently. She has also shown the ability to finish with both hands. The senior really stuck out on the defensive end, where she is a very good aggressive on ball defender with her size and mobility. Very easy to see why Affolter sits near the top of our 2021 rankings.

Sounds like exactly what we're lacking on the wing, though Kate is starting to attack the basket a little more offensively.

Wish gabby would attack— in woman’s BB good things happen when you drive-( basket, foul, put back) as girls do not have crazy blocking skills or vertical

I agree if she: 1) takes more floaters or short pull up jumpers, which she makes at a good rate; or 2) finishes without worrying about defenders. Right now, she's really timid trying to finish around the basket if a defender is near. Her shot either gets blocked or altered a lot.

If she doesn't do 1 or 2, I'd rather she not attack, because I don't think timid drives are the best shots the team can get.

I too would like the shorter girls pull up. While they score at times, many are blocked, some are turned over, and then the risk of a bike and car collision with Gabbie and Meyer being the bike.

Meyer had had success getting to the rim but she's played limited minutes. Bluder has mostly subbed her in at PG. Martin has played well but Bluder needs to play Gabbie Caitlyn and Meyer together when McKenna or Martin is out.

For the recruiting experts... who is Britt Prince? Any info on her? Per Hawkeye Report twitter on the homepage looks like she received an offer yesterday from Iowa.
Thanks for any info!

Thanks for any info!
She is a 6 foot point guard from Elkhorn North in Nebraska. She's a freshman who has already been offered by Louisville, Iowa State among others.

Thanks for the info on Prince! Hopefully having Taylor McCabe committed helps to convince her to come to Iowa.
Prince plays for a club basketball team coached by her mother which includes Amy Williams daughter on it. Williams is head coach at Nebraska.
