WBB recruiting for the future

Even if they don’t count against the scholarship limit (which I think they do), they could limit who might be willing to commit based on playing time.

The rankings seem a tad low on Taylor Mccabe. She seems to have really become an elite sharpshooter.

How does McCabe look in areas besides shooting? That could be the reason she's ranked relatively low in the top 100.

Gabbie Marshall is a good example. She's one of the best three-point shooters in the country, yet I'd only rank her as the 4th or 5th most important player for Iowa (behind Clark, Warnock, and Czinano). Clark and Warnock also shoot threes at an elite level, and have bigger impacts on other areas than Marshall does. Czinano is the best finisher in the country and her low-post presence helps significantly with our offense's spacing.

Updated recruiting rankings have come out. #44 Hannah Stuelke, #75 Jada Gyamfi, #88 Taylor McCabe
Will be interesting to see how these compare to Prospects Nation, once those come out, and to any updated rankings by ASGR and Blue Star.

Finally, based on the ESPN rankings, the Gophers have a helluva ‘22 class: Mara Braun # 28, Amaya Battle # 38, Mallory Heyer # 54.

It will be interesting to see what recruits are at the Penn State game this weekend. I've heard it's going to be the biggest recruiting weekend for football in a while, and I imagine that could carry over to men's and women's basketball too.

McCabe has a nice all-around game but I don't think she will be logging minutes anywhere but at the 2. She is an elite shooter with range and an unreal quick release. I wouldn't be too concerned about those rankings. She will fill a need that all teams love to have which will be shooting and and better spacing.

Hawkshawn was nice enough to put out the july links to All Iowa Attack's top teams' games so I watched every game that Stuhlke, McCabe, and Gyamfi played in july. In most of those games McCabe was the best offensive player for either team. She shoots such a high percentage for a high school kid who is flying off of and around screens, stopping on a dime, and letting it fly. And it flies quick... Someone earlier this summer said it right on this thread, Stuhlke's ability to make hustle plays is as elite as Clark's overall ability. Same for McCabe's shooting ability-it is that elite. Gyamfi didn't play as much as the other 2 but she looks really solid defensively.

Having seen all three play countless times, Gyamfi is the wild card. She doesn't have near the motor or drive of Stuelke or McCabe. She tends to float around the perimeter rather than take her frame down low and score in the post. This is just MY OPINION but she doesn't strike me as a girl that loves to play basketball. She is insanely talented and shoots it at a pretty good clip from three but she will have to show the willingness to work harder if she wants to make an impact at Iowa.

Spot on, nicely said.

Two for two.

Does anyone know where Jada’s older sister Maya now? I saw that she had entered the transfer portal from Northern Iowa last spring.

Not sure if I should use the other thread or not but since she doesn’t have an offer yet I’m posting here. 2024 from the Bradley Beal Elite AAU club. Has offers from Illinois, St. Louis, and Missouri State early on.

ESPN out with preliminary 2022 class rankings. Only Big Ten team in top 10 is Minnesota at # 7, but the list after the top 10 is Texas, Texas A&M, Iowa, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Miami.

#1 player in the country in the 2026 class per Top Spot is Jenica Lewis from Johnston. Maddyn Greenway, Chad Greenway's daughter, is #27. Certainly a really early list for just 8th graders, but Iowa should have a solid opportunity at both.

Where in Iowa are the other two girls listed from? Anyone know their height, possible UI connections?

I believe Jayla Williams is from Cedar Rapids and will be playing for Cedar Rapids Kennedy. I found a video online of Nakia Olliverre that was associated with Cy Select Wolves, which is Audi Crooks AAU team, so she's maybe from Western/Central Iowa?

Here are some of the names that stuck out to me on that list as having some Iowa interest one way or another:

#1 - Jenica Lewis
#4 - Kamarah Banks
#13 - Jayla Jackson
#24 - Addison Bjorn
#27 - Maddyn Greenway
#36 - Lanelle Wright

I'm sure there are some on that list that I'm missing.

I saw there was a list for 2027 girls and # 18 KeaOnna Worley from IA, any relation to former Iowa player, Glen Worley?

IS the Huber from Iowa related to Stacy Freese-Huber?
I did a quick Google search on Stacy Frese Huber and she does have a daughter named Sydney, so I’m going to say yes.

Does anyone know why Stacy left Iowa for ISU? I read Stacy’s business bio (she does real estate) and it mentioned that she went to Iowa for her freshman year and then transferred to ISU. At the end of her bio she mentions that she and her family follow Brenda and Maryland basketball, but no mention of follow ing ISU basketball.

ESPN's updated class rankings for 2022 have 3 Big Ten teams in the top 25, Minnesota at # 10, Iowa at # 20, Michigan at # 22. Wisconsin is one of 4 teams listed as next up after the top 25. Will be interesting to see if the Big Ten's 2021 NCAA tourney success will yield better results for the class of 2023. For the class of 2022, the Pac 12 cleaned up with 6 of the top 14 classes (4 of the top 5), while the SEC had 6 in the top 25, not counting Texas, who was # 15.

There may be more to it but think Brenda was asst coach at ISU at time. Public statement was she wanted to play for sister. That’s what o recall

May have been an Angie Lee factor too. Think whe wasiowa coach at the time

I think there was a “sexuality” question/concern as well.
