You think it sucks now, you should have tried it in the 70's. The water would change colors with the seasons, but the smell remained consistent.

oh we did..actually in the 60's..the good news with the water being so bad and smell...we drank alot of pop.

True enough. Had that luxury growing up in Ames. I vividly recall, about 6 weeks after my freshman year started in 1989, seeing an article in the Daily Iowan telling new moms NOT to mix their babies formula with Iowa City tap water. It never did seem to get any better before I moved east in early 2001. Guess some things do never change.
