But, simply put. It's not going to happen, probably as much for the reason about the military not being willing to do it to their own citizens than any other reason. And if it does, it's going to be on a scale that we won't be able to stop. And I too, would prefer to have a gun at that moment than not have one, but not because I'd be trying to take on the US armed forces, but because I'd be trying to get the hell out of here.

All I'm saying is the "well-regulated militia" argument for owning a gun is horse shit. None of you are in a militia, not one of you will ever use your guns in that capacity. I still support your right to keep and bear arms but, I think that right should be well-regulated.

I know you mean well but you are naive. We have all come to be very complacent and insulated. It is difficult for most to fathom our society crumbling to the point individuals have to defend themselves from a tyranically government.

History has disproven your naivete though. It will happen in the US some day. That day will come. Maybe not in our life times but it will come.

I didn't twist anything out of context. Your argument against slieb was that people needed to carry in the event the government decided to turn on its citizens but then you state no member of the US military would follow through on those orders. So I'll ask again, why do you own/carry a gun? Do you feel unsafe? Are you protecting your property? Why? Just tell us why you own the gun. Don't hide behind some bullshit response about the government turning on its people because as slieb already pointed out if the government wanted your gun they'd already have it by now and your argument contradicts itself anyways. Tell all of us "anti-gun nuts" why you own a gun. I doubt you're doing much hunting in Florida.

I can't speak for anyone else but I own them because I really like to shoot stuff. The fact that it protected by the Second Amendment just gives me confidence that I will be able to enjoy that for many year to come.

He is funny, but you seem to have a lot of misconceptions about gun ownership in Australia. There's an estimated 3 million privately owned guns there. They never banned all guns there only self loading semi-autos. Different States have different regulations just like the USA. One of the most popular rifle is the Remington 7615 which is a pump action .223 that accepts standard AR 15 magazines. Some States allow 30 rounds while others are more restrictive.

As far as doing real damage I can assure you a pump can do it as well as a semi-auto.

The problem though is that most people want to prop up the government, other foreign countries, some imaginary boogey man for justification on why they get to own any type of gun they want. I have no problem with people owning guns. My grandpa owns a lot of hunting rifles. If you want to spend your hard earned money on a gun, you have that very right in this country (as long as you qualify). Just quit making up excuses about those entities mentioned earlier on why you feel the need to carry at all times.

My opinion on why people carry is because they are mostly insecure people who feel more confident/stronger when they are carrying.

Last year hanging out with some friends at my house, there was news that came across 4 people had broken into a house and were being pursued by the cops in my neighborhood. The helicopters were literally shining the spotlight in my backyard. Funny how the tune of a liberal couple we hang out with changed when I went and grabbed my gun to have by my side as we hung out and watched all of this go down. It turned out it was an "abandoned" house. But not knowing at the time was a little unsettling. I just thought their thinking it was ok for me to grab it was as ironic and hypocritical as it gets. I would assume most of you gun haters would probably change your tune in that instance as well. But for the sake of this argument, I'm sure you'll hang on to your "no guns" morals.
