Will this weekend's success help us finish out this class? With a very good offensive line verbally committed, will Mr. Goodsen pull the trigger. Need those road graders up front to pave the way.

Will Britt's commitment help bring Mr. Bell into the fold?

Saw All committed to Michigan, I guess TE University could not sway him to visit. Think Hawks will take a TE, who will it be?

What's left?

1 running back - Goodson?
1 defensive lineman - Fox or Lee?
1 TE - Stephens? Think Hickman train is gone
1 LBer - Henrich?
1 WR - Bell?
O-line is done

That would make 18, they may find room for an athlete, Wright

I think both a high level WR and a great MLB are the two biggest needs, IMO. Surprised there aren't more guys jumping on our opportunities, especially at MLB. Our history is proven at the position and have recruited pretty lightly in the middle the last two classes.

What about DE from Waverly Newsom. Iowa cool or vice versa and is there no room if Fox commits on DL?

I keep seeing comments about our recruiting really stepping up. That's really exciting, however every commit is still a 3 star, pretty much like every other year. What makes this class a step up? I'm genuinely asking, not saying it isn't. Thanks in advance.

It is far from like every other year. Prior to 2016 it was not abnormal to have 1/3 of the recruits as 2 star recruits. There have been much fewer 2 star recruits , but also players that have much bigger offer lists. Plus last year we ended with 4 4 star recruits. Its not a guarantee for success but the level of talent of the recruits is much higher than in previous years. We will see hot it all pans out but I feel very comfortable with our OL, DL, DB, and QB for the foreseeable future. Those are some key positions to have success on the gridiron.

Difference in quality of 3 stars. One way to look is offer list. Majority if not all of our guys have offers from multiple power 5 schools and not just a bunch of MAC schools. Rivals also has them 5.5-5.7. 5.7 borderline potential 4 star guys like Logan Lee and few others.

I am not concerned about the LB position. We have 2 already....we got 3 last year(plus 6-8 potential walk on LB's). Josey Jewel was a 2 star, hopefully one of the walk-on's can fit that path to All American.

This.....These are all 3* kids on Rivals, but 247 has two of them rated 4*'s. The star system is always a crap shoot, Josey Jewell and Josh Jackson are great examples of that. My Scott-o-Meter tells me that I am excited about this class. If we get Bell, then the Scott-o-Meter will register as fully hard, but not quite yet.....Soon.....:)

Seriously, what is the difference between a 4* and a 3*? (Yes, I know ... 1*)

What these kids do in the 2 years after their high school career is more important than what they did in HS. It's important to get guys that want to get better and are willing to put in the work to do so. If they are content with their abilities, they're not going to amount to much in college.

What's important to me is this ... is the staff getting the guys they want? Or, are they taking leftovers? It sure seems to me that they are getting the guys they really want. If that's true, I'm less concerned about stars.

Something has to be wrong. Our star rating is 3.0 , Nebby is 2.9. We've got 13 commits and they have 10. We're ranked 25 they are 35. Yet DeFrost is a fabulous recruiter and Kirk can't close a car door. What am I missing?

I agree and good point in some cases it doesn’t matter. Good example is Brock and Goodson at RB. Our staff must view them pretty close or good enough that they’d take Goodson 3star over 4 star Brock. In their eyes they are same or maybe Goodson is better and they don’t care what rivals, espn or what ever service gives one kid that extra star.

looking at a 5.7 3* there is not much difference between a 5.8 4* its like trying to determine the difference between a play rated 30th at his position and being a 3* and the one rated #29 is a 5.8 4*.

there is really no difference. LB 6'4 Jacob out of Ohio can play all 3 positions and is a 5.7 3*. Campbell at 6'4 can play all 3 positions. the coaches are bringing players at all the positions that can play multiple positions. this is a very good thing going forward by getting a higher rated player [ie: 3* vs 2* player]

The offer lists of the recruits we are getting is impressive- which is a better indication than computer nerds evaluation (no offense rivals and 247 employees)
