Coheed and Cambria is straight up great rock.

I love Placebo, but I can't listen to them unless I want to go to a dark place.

Its funny you mention that as I had the exact same thought after starting this thread.

I thought how weird would it have been in 1975 to be cruising along and then hear this song on the radio......at first you definitely would have been like "WTF was that???"
