Well, it looks like Zach Johnson is an idiot

Zach Johnson has withdrawn from this week’s British Open after a positive COVID-19 test.

Johnson returned a positive rapid-result PCR test on Sunday, following the conclusion of the John Deere Classic. He received the result before boarding an England-bound charter alongside other players, managers and caddies. Had Johnson been on the flight, all other players aboard — regardless of their vaccination status — would have been removed from the tournament due to close-contact protocol.

So the Vaccination is worthless to the PGA or England?

Some had no choice. Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama at No. 18 was the highest-ranked player to withdraw. He had a positive COVID-19 test on July 2 during the Rocket Mortgage Classic, and while he has gone through 10 days of self-isolation without symptoms, his tests keep coming back positive.

England and the R&A. The Open is not a PGA event.

Technically I think it is both a PGA and European PGA event. This is R&A protocols though that take precedence over any PGA protocols and it is really dumb considering they are allowing 30k fans to be there.

There does seem to be some idiocy at play here:

“Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson said he (simply)* came in contact with a person who (simply)* had a positive COVID-19 test and withdrew. Under the R&A requirements sent to players on June 22, anyone who is identified as a contact has to self-isolate and be withdrawn.”

Quick...someone start another ZJ/vax thread!!!!

Say what you will, Zach has never forgot where he is from or who he is.

From the very first time the light shined on him so intensely at The Masters he's maintained he's "just a regular guy from Cedar Rapids, Iowa."

But he has been more than just a great ambassador of course. Just recently, because of his charity, sportsmanship, and character he was given the Payne Stewart Award.

To those then who are so quick to wish him ill after one possible trip up, well shame on you.

This vaccination shaming is ridiculous.

If he isn’t vaxxed, he deserves a lot more scorn than what HROT will pylon.
Will it be a high pylon?

You do realize some people are not medically allowed or advised to get vaccinated, right? I personally know someone that has been dealing with an autoimmune system issue and his med team has told him absolutely no vaccine for anything (covid, flu, etc).

I think Johnson had taken 1 of 2 doses.

I have a very specific drug allergy and I've been wearing a medic alert since I was a kid. I chose to get vaccinated anyway, but had to wait longer after both shots to make sure I didn't have a reaction.

People need to stop making too many assumptions.

Do you shame everyone who doesn’t get a flu vaccine as well? Or any other vaccine? Do you go around and ask for everyone’s immunization records?

Stepfather has leukemia and told the same. Sounds like he wouldn't develop the antibodies through the Pfizer & Moderna, but would with J&J and so did that.

But I'm guessing Mr. Johnson does not fall into an immune compromised situation.
