What do we think about Lucy's WNBA potential?

I know she has a lot of college ball left to play because we're going win the the whole damn thing, but I have to assume Lucy has some serious potential to get a look from the WNBA, correct?

Very average at best. I don’t have any real data and really nothing more than just anecdotal thoughts per se… But I don’t think it will surprise anybody When I say it appears to me, there’s a whole lot of extra bullshit that goes along with the WNBA and finding a roster spot and sticking….

There are several foreign girls that have been sensational basketball players on their national teams and overseas, and they have struggled finding connections over here and making huge impacts. It also seems just to take some time?

And there have been plenty of college players that you would’ve thought had a legitimate shot to make it and did not…

With that said here are her limitations. She’s only about 5-10 which isn’t terrible, but she doesn’t make up for it by being super quick.

She’s a willing defender, but again not super athletic, I think her handles & passing ability are only average….. however she’s tough as nails, she has a monster heart & her mid-range game, is elite.

At the start of the year I was thinking no way. If she continues to play like she has been and improves in a couple areas I think she could stick.

She is a scorer and the WNBA needs that. She can handle the ball and get to the basket with either hand. Athletic enough when you take into consideration how she gets up and down the court. This isn’t the NBA with supreme athletes all around. It would not surprise me at all if late 1st round.

Edit - I was thinking there were a lot more teams than there are - late 2nd more like it.

As a 2024 Fever comparison, would you want Wheeler or Olsen?

The USC game illustrated what she can do against future "WNBA" players. I think probably a question of consistency. I think she'll get a shot.

I think her game translates to the WNBA. I’m not sure if she’d be a starter immediately, but there’s definitely room for her and I’m pretty sure Portland and Toronto get teams next year.
