They lost to Vandy and a terrible OU team and still get in above a 10-2 scUM?

Season 2 Wtf GIF by Parks and Recreation

They have to have a minimum of 4 SEC teams in this; I think it may be a law or something.
4 Sec and 4 BIG. Thats the rule. I think there will be a time when you see an 8-4 BIG or SEC team make it.

Make it 16 teams. BIG Gets 4 auto, Sec gets 4 auto, then fill out the rest.

1. BRING BACK THE BCS.

2. If this holds serve, Notre Dame will take great pleasure in dragging Bama into a very cold phone booth and bludgeoning them for 60 minutes.

I wonder how long before some of these designated outsider conferences and schools sue the hell out of the ncaa for collusion and epic incompetence.
Even with the new playoff system, it still won’t be a recognized championship by the NCAA. Not until every one of the small conferences get a seat at the table, like they do with the FCS and lower divisions.

How much influence bot directly and indirectly does ESPN have through all of these changes? No one outside the sec thinks Alabama should be in this year. People want to see Miami play against their home team. They want to see how their teams measure up.. College football is not the NFL and there really isn't sustainable appeal to teams nationwide. There aren't going to be lots.of.long term.sec fans in the Midwest or the northeast even if they are the best conference. People are going to lay attention to their local teams long term or will lose interest altogether.

You think the Big 12 shouldn't be able to make the case that both ASU and ISU should be in the playoff over Alabama? Why shouldn't the Big 12 sue the ncaa? Being left.out is costing them millions. Same with any other conference not named the Big 10 or SEC.
Please read up on the economics, structure and power behind college football. You're clearly not informed of it.

Bama would probably be 11-1 or 12-0 playing one of the Big 12 slates. Would be favored against either team irrespective of game time and location

I am taking delight at the Canes fans melting down about a 3 loss Bama being ranked higher than them and the fact they are going to miss a spot in playoff due to it. The same cane fans who loved last years debacle and who also mocked us for trying to leave ACC and same school who has decided to stick it out in ACC?

Who could have predicted that 8 BIG / SEC teams would be in the playoffs?!? Including a 3 loss Alabama. Nobody saw this coming!! If only something happened a year ago that could have warned us all🤔

Sidebar-I also love how Notre Dame has emerged just fine in all this. In addition to the whole horrible TV deal with ESPN and Raycom, the whole Notre Dame / ACC partnership thing was a complete fiasco too that got ACC zip in the end. Notre Dame will always get the ACC’s second spot with no need to play in the championship game and no need to share TV and playoff revenue.

What a bunch of idiots Swofford and company were. The most incredible part is the ACC is now a garbage basketball conference too so that all went to heck too.

Bleh, the BCS was not better. But they still managed to leave way too much of this up to politicking. This is why they needed to go with 16 teams and every conference champion gets an autobid. They can leave the politicking to the at-large bids and the seeding process. But that way any team will have a path where some biased committee person can not get in the way of their path to the playoffs. Plus, we wouldn't have seen the conferences self-destruct and the PAC-12 would still exist today in it's original form.

Of course, the Big 10 and SEC would never go for that which is why we don't have it.

Probably. Sure.

Probably is carrying a lot of weight there for a team that lost to Vanderbilt.

That type of bullshit argument needs is ESPN propaganda and needs to stop.

Iowa State is historically bad and yet has taken down top ten teams at Jack Trice every few years.

Bama has no business being in there with the Oklahoma loss. Didn’t just lose, but rather got humiliated and dominated by a .500 team that needed the win to become bowl eligible. Ole Miss deserves that spot more than Bama.

Well, Iowa State is historically good this season. It's debatable how much is due to ability versus their schedule.

Yeah they might be favored, but they could and would probably shit the bed. Vandy and Oklahoma happened. No team with 3 losses should be in the playoff unless they win their conference championship.

That’s silly. There are no hard lines for the final at large spot. Lot of 3 loss teams with far better resumes than many 1 & 2 loss teams.

They should never have gone to 12. It's a joke. Should have been 6 at most. I hate this.
Yeah, it's gotten to a point that if they expand it much further, the playoffs will be half as long as the regular season. If a team plays a conference championship game, they will be playing 13 games before the playoffs and then potentially 4 or 5 more games to win the NC. Those teams better have a pretty deep bench as the injuries will still come.

Maybe they will have to expand rosters even further than what they are now? That will create a need for more scholarship money.
