What one place have you been that you would tell others to see before you die?

Never made sense to me that the basically uninhabitable planet of Hoth, gets the system named after it. FVCKING Lucas.

Big sur
Grand canyon
Normandy including cemetary
We just did Normandy last week when we were there for the Olympics. The cemetery was incredibly moving. The voiceover reading off the names of the fallen as you leave the visitors center was haunting. It was a great reminder that without their sacrifice we wouldn't be enjoying an international party in a free Paris with amazing food and drink, watching our favorite sport on its biggest stage.

I thought this inscription was perfect:

Only if you’re stupid or lazy.
Hacking Yellowstone for beginners:
If you're a hiker who is going to put in big miles, you will often see very few people. I've been on a 20-mile hike on a nice day in July and saw a maximum of 10 other people on the trail all day, including the woman who ran past us up Electric Peak while we were just trying to catch our breath every 2 minutes.

If you're not a big hiker:
* Get up early in the morning. Dress in layers because it's chilly. The wildlife are active early in the morning and the boardwalks that are packed with people later in the day are empty.
* Between 10:00 and 4:00, go for a short hike, eat lunch/chill/siesta in a picnic area near a river or lake, and/or take care of chores (laundry, groceries, etc.).
* Things begin to thin out after 4:00. At dusk, the wildlife becomes a lot more active again and the boardwalks are sparse again.

Anything different seems to be the only requirement.

Countless number of people would take pictures of the sun coming up over the corn fields with a light fog every morning of RAGBRAI and you could hear many comment how beautiful it was. My thought was “BFD I see that everyday”.

Nights in the Boundary Waters in Northern Minnesota - beautifully remote

Banff National park in Alberta - Stunning

Victoria (and all of Vancouver Island), British Columbia

Sitting on the porch of the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, MI

The beaches of the emerald coast of Florida

Savannah, GA riverwalk

I am sure we have some folks who have been to amazing places.

Mine would be the Virgin Islands, especially the British. Was a bit blown away. Felt like I was in the Mediterranean exploring the Greek Isles. Amazing sailing and diving plus some nice mountain vistas as well. And a mere 2.5 hour flight from Miami.
Rome. If I had to be more specific it is a jump ball between the colosseum and Vatican museum.

Alaska and Glacier NP top the list domestically for me. Going to Hawaii in a few months (last state to visit for my wife and I), I’m sure that will be added to list.

Internationally a few that have already been stated, but one that hasn’t is Angkor Wat.

The whole "golden triangle" of Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur was a really amazing experience.

Not just the Taj Mahal, but the palaces and forts, the Hawa Mahal (palace of winds), and the Qutub Minar monument.

I would definitely recommend everyone try and experience that.
I agree with you. Did you make it to Varanasi (sp)?

Been to a lot of places on this list and I’ll add to it…..Grand Cayman 7 mile beach, Harney’s Peak in South Dakota near Mt Rushmore, Maui snd the Road to Hana with all the waterfalls and views along the way. Going to T&C next month, Greece next year - Athens, Santorini, Mykonos so can’t wait to see the Med Sea, and been to lot of golf courses - Masters, Straits, Pebble, PGA National, Erin Hills, Sand Valley, Wanna take that northern route on Beartooth Highway and see Yellowstone, then into Cali to see El Capitan as well as the giant sequoia trees and into the great NW to check it all out.

It’s really tough to narrow it down. Loved Paris and Rome and Venice. But Yellowstone and Grand Canyon are awesome. Love Key West and Lake Winnipesaukee, NH. But if I had to pick one place I’d probably end up back on Turks and Caicos. St Lucia and Antigua are great too.
Going to T&C next month so can’t wait to see it in person and ocean views. What else?

Driving through all the Florida Keys is very under rated. Pretty awesome.

Been to a lot of Islands in my life but Saint Lucia was seriously something to see. Just beautiful.

Only attempt the tubing experience on the hottest days of the summer with no threat of t-storms.

What about alligators?
