What's the deal with all the Flea-Flickers this year?

Have got the Arkansas-Okie St game on one of the screens while waiting for the Iowa game to begin and they just ran a flea-flicker. I think I've seen at least one of those run in every game (NFL or college) I've seen this year. What gives?

Also, I love Saturday's and College Football so much!*
