Delta makes engines?
So not a Delta engine. It's an engine on a Delta plane, maintained by Delta employees.
Atlanta gets that much snow?As if the weather situation wasn't bad enough at ATL, this happened:

Delta is probably the best domestic airline from my experience. In the last month I flew 5 Delta flights. Twice from Atlanta. I lucked out. This sort of shit usually seems to happen to me.
So not a Delta engine.
Written better:
“What’s with all the engines catching fire on delta jets?”
Delta maintains their own engines and regular, heavy overhaul involves taking them apart blade by blade, screw by screw and then full re-assembly. They have a ton of responsibility.Delta makes engines?
YW!Thanks, I guess.
But they aren’t an OEM…thanks for backing me up on this.Delta maintains their own engines and regular, heavy overhaul involves taking them apart blade by blade, screw by screw and then full re-assembly. They have a ton of responsibility.
They install a lot of OEM parts. They also machine these parts in their own shops. But they aren’t an OEM…thanks for backing me up on this.

I know. Again, nothing in conflict with what I posted. Stop trying so hard. They install a lot of OEM parts. They also machine these parts in their own shops.
You insinuated the airline has no culpability since they are not in the engine manufacturing business. That would be incorrect.I know. Again, nothing in conflict with what I posted. Stop trying so hard.
I didn’t insinuate that at all. You seem to be injecting that into your reading of my post. For further proof of this, try reading posts #5 and #11. My original post was poking fun at the difference between “Delta engines,” snd “Delta’s engines.” Again, stop trying so hard. You insinuated the airline has no culpability since they are not in the engine manufacturing business. That would be incorrect.
Agreed, but that’s like bragging about being the smartest kid on the short bus. The U.S. airlines are trash compared to foreign carriers.Delta is probably the best domestic airline from my experience.
I don’t fly much, every few years. Delta was very good. Flew to South America and back. Minneapolis to CR was overbooked so they offered $700 to 4 volunteers to push flights back. I took the offer and a family of three took the offer.Delta is probably the best domestic airline from my experience.

If I had to guess these engine fires are the result of age, delayed/deferred maintenance, or outsourced maintenance - all the product of American greed.
Disaster sundae?!? That sounds delicious. What’s in it?They did yesterday.
The airport was already a disaster sundae and the engine fire was the cherry on top.

This thread is a perfect example of sensational media creating the perception of trouble. Delta took and land landed safely how many times today? How many hundreds of flights? How many Delta flights are in the air right now....that will all land safely. They'll do the same tomorrow. And the day after. And the day after that.
I with you. It's not like Delta intentionally started the engine on fire - quit bitching. They do. Just like all airlines. They're also following an immensely detailed playbook from the relevant manufacturers though. And as we've learned painfully in the past, not staying within that prescribed set of instructions is where disaster lies. AA191.
Actually that's a -300. Don't know without looking if up they have different engines but it is a rare variant. Not many out there and delta has most of them.Boing 757 - 200 has Pratt & Whitney engines. Big problems with these. If tour lucky, they just fail. But they start on fire too.
The engines on this plane were P & W.Actually that's a -300. Don't know without looking if up they have different engines but it is a rare variant. Not many out there and delta has most of them.
