Where are all the Debbie Downers today ??

Nice performance last night, but beating a bad Illinois team doesn't really make up for losing 5/6 to end the season. So I wouldn't crow too much and call everyone out over last night's win.

Let's see if they can snag a big win tonight.

Would be nice to be playing for a 4-5 seed instead of trying to get off the 8/9 line.

Depends on what you mean. If we lose that game 83-62, the Iowa fan base is sweating bullets on Sunday. By avoiding another huge turd, I think I agree with the consensus that Iowa is solidly on the #8-#9 line, although #10 isn't out of the question (and actually preferable if you ask me). They're at least in a position where a loss isn't going to knock them down any more. Of course, they have a chance to win themselves up to a #7 seed and maybe even as high as a #6 if they actually win the whole thing.

Agreed. Losing last night would have hurt Iowa's seeding. Winning it didn't really change anything. It was a game we were supposed to win.. Kind of nothing to gain.

Tonight is the opposite. Nothing to lose.

Some of you guys have memories that go back about an hour.

The Hawks looked great last night (all be it against a lesser opponent playing on 24 hours rest). Cook looked like the kind of dominating force inside we all thought he was, Wiesey plays tough as nails and cool as a cucumber for a true Frosh...he's the real deal. Nick Baer...well, he just keeps being Nick Baer. All true. We didn't need JBo heroics but he hit a couple threes and contributed 10. Garza had a quiet 20 (if that's possible)...looked to be back on his game. Moss 21 with 50%+ shooting. Everyone contributed.

Also true that it doesn't wipe out recent history...it's one great game in a 4 week mud puddle of disappointment. If the Hawks can pull off a big upset tonight...WOW! Or if they win 2 and make the Sweet 16...ever more WOW! I'll be in front of the tube pullin' for 'em.

But as Fran would say....body of work.

I’m too old for cartwheels, but I’m going to ignore your instructions on how I should feel and be happy.
Didn't tell you not to be happy; most people don't do cartwheels because their team beat a lesser opponent. That type of reaction is typically reserved for beating an opponent ranked higher than us, winning a conference championship, etc.

And if we lose? You gonna call for everyone's head again?

Lets face it. Iowa wins? Silence. No compliments. Nothing.

Iowa loses? Fire Fran! Fire Barta! Cook sucks! Our guards suck!

Maybe you guys should forget about Iowa and start rooting for Duke. Your lives would be much happier.
The only head I've called for is Barta's ...and that will never change.

Guy is not a very good AD.

He's decent at raising money for facility renovations, that's about it.

Oh, I did start a thread about Cook not being NBA material, and that also isn't going to change...at least not anytime soon.

Like a lot of kool-aid drinkers on here I'm sure you're happy with mediocrity, but most of us understand that Iowa MBB is capable of so much greater.

Most of us are not happy being the only program that hasn't made the BTT quarterfinals in the past 5 years. That's why tonight is the true litmus test.

For the record, until Iowa MBB at least pulls even with the likes of Wisconsin, I personally won't be content.

Oh, sorry, you just want to tell everybody HOW HAPPY. I feel like you’ve posted similarly many times. I’ll be as happy as I damn well want.

The problem is that apparently there are no standards for judging Iowa coaches. The more mediocre you are, the more you are paid, the longer your contract gets and the larger you buy-out becomes. I'm happy you are willing to accept mediocrity as the "Gold Standard" by which to judge things, you seem pretty easy to please.

Oh, and please enlighten me as to direction of the program? Exactly when is Franny going to really kick it in and take the program to the next level, year 16?
Enlighten me as to how your bitter complaining about low standards will result in a better basketball team.

I'm happy you're content with those kinds of standards. Do you just "settle" for everything in you life.

I'd give right nut if Barta and Fran, and for that matter Ferentz were fired.
I watch sports for entertainment. Like you, I have absolutely nothing to do with how well the team plays, except perhaps my cheering when I’m at a game. If something that’s supposed to be fun made me angry and bitter, I’d find something else to do with my time. Why would I “settle” for anything less when it comes to entertainment?
