Nowhere until it is proven on the field.

For all we know, Wisconsin overlooked BYU and spent a little extra time getting ready for Iowa.

They absolutely thrashed us last year and there is no reason to not go into this game expecting and preparing for their very best. They know how important this game could end up being.

I know Taylor is dynamic and has put up the numbers. I think he led the nation LY in yards after contact. I've watched him twice this year. I saw a guy who goes down on first contact. Hold him to 100, Hawks win.

Thrashed us indicates that we actually showed up to play. LOL I would say they played well and we were merely going through the motions.

Wisconsin won't lose 2 in a row. BYU did open some huge holes against them. Iowa struggles against their defense. Hopefully Stanley has time to throw. Home field advantage to Hawks, will it be enough?

That is not the same Wisconsin defense Iowa played last year. Not even close. Iowa will be in this game.

I'm not convinced this is true. BYU is currently listed at #100 for yards per game (Iowa is #74 ( I know they got a big bump from playing UNI.)) I guess we'll see which IA offense shows up - the stinker or the stomper.

it's one game of college football.
ANYTHING can happen.....that is why we watch.
1 game means very little.

Stanley hasn't looked great, but i'll take him for any given day over hornibrook.

how the hell has no one mentioned TE!!!?!?!?

can't wait for the matchup of our d line vs their o line as well!

BYU gave BF the keys to victory. Connie got taken down by a trick play.
24-3 vs 33-7 (margin improvement)
44-41 vs 13-3 (see above)
31-14 vs 38-14 (see above)
This team is better than last years and should win. Plus, Iowa QBs (who don't transfer) peak before their senior year so that bodes well for Stanley.

Home field advantage goes big to Iowa.
We owe the Badgers. Looks pretty close on paper.

Curious, why does the Wisconsin D get the advantage? Have you watched them this year? They look like a program (good one) replacing 9 starters on D. This thing is a push across the board.

Iowa has a lot of advantages if you know where to look. However the game really came down to player execution and coaching last year. We have to make smart use of constraint plays to challenge Wisconsin’s linebackers. Unless they are advantaged with down and distance, looking at film they tend to fire downhill at any sign of zone running. Need to include lots of plays with that look but with play action or straight up quick passing to rid those LBs of that nasty habit.

We don’t need to play perfect but we need to move the ball and more importantly, get a lead. Wisconsin’s not a good passing team - they like to compliment their running game more than anything. Hornibrook will be a turnover machine if we get them behind the 8 ball. Our DL will hold up against WI as long as we’re not abusing them with poor field position and no help from the offense, which is what happened last year.

Look, I love Iowa. And I do think the Hawks will win on Saturday. This opening sentence made me smile though. I mean, if an advantage is truly present and means something, isn’t it obvious? Maybe I’m just being a smartass. I dunno. Cheers.

The Mormans torched this defense to the tune of 200 rushing yards. They start three new DBs. Iowa will be in this game.
and our high octane O destroyed osu last year ;)
like i said one game doesn't mean much.....except wiscy is gonna come in extra hungry

I think our guys are going to remember last years embarrassment and kick their butts. Look for us to open it up about midway through the 3rd and have 6-7 ypc run average which is going to open up the passing game.
31-14 Iowa.

Based on what I've seen the first three weeks, Iowa has the advantage in virtually every category. Throw in the fact that it's a night game at Kinnick and all bets are off. UW's defense is virtually non-exsistent (that's been painfully obvious). The other factor is that Alex Hornibrook has reverted to his freshman level year of play. In summation I see a victory somewhere in the neighborhood of Iowa 30 UW 13

I was predicting a lopsided Wisconsin win a few days ago; but, eye opener Saturday. Wisconsin 17 - Iowa 13. I am picking with my head and not my heart. Go Hawks.

Check the injury wire: Van Ginkel may be out. He was helped off, BYU RB popped for 45 yards the next play. This is a different defense from last year's game in Madison.

Also, TE Zander Neuville suffered an injury vs. BYU, status unknown. Hard to believe but 7 year starter Troy Fumagalli actually graduated. Make Horny try to make plays under pressure from Iowa's pass rush.

This game is up to Nate Stanley's and Iowa's offense. Even though the Wiscy D is not all that stout, to win we need good decision making and accurate passes from our QB. Our defense is stout and could bring us a score or two but can't carry the Iowa offense. We'll soon know if we are the team to beat in the Big 10 West.

Wisconsin has one WR suspended for the season due to Assault of a Coed.
Sorry, I respectfully DISAGREE that they have any advantage on WR.

GO HAWKS ! :)

Why did you even bother to say anything else after, "Wisconsin won't lose 2 in a row"???

Tweaked that a bit for you.

Andrew Van Ginkel, Zander Neuville questionable for Badgers' game at Iowa
University of Wisconsin outside linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel and tight end Zander Neuville are both questionable to play at Iowa this week.

The pair left early during the Badgers' 24-21 loss to BYU on Saturday with right leg injuries. Neuville departed after the game's second play from scrimmage when running back Jonathan Taylor was tackled into the back of his leg. Van Ginkel exited after playing only five snaps - and just before the Cougars' first touchdown - before wearing a walking boot during the second half.

UW missed Van Ginkel's pass-rushing ability Saturday, while Neuville's absence left the Badgers short of blocking tight ends with Luke Benzschawel (right leg) also out.

Neuville spent this offseason recovering from a torn ACL in his right knee and also suffered a right leg injury that kept him out for most of fall camp and UW's season-opening game against Western Kentucky. Badgers coach Paul Chryst said Monday that Neuville's current injury isn't related to those previous issues, however.

"To get (Neuville) back would be huge," UW left guard Michael Deiter said. "He's got to take it day by day. At the end of the day, he's got to be smart. He knows his body better than anyone else, but when he's in there and he's going, it's like having another O-lineman in the game who can also run routes and catch.

"He gives us a lot of strength on the edge, and he's just a lot of fun to play with. The energy he brings, the confidence he brings, it's kind of contagious in the huddle, so getting him back would be huge."

Van Ginkel and Neuville are both still listed on UW's depth chart this week, and the Badgers will release a final injury report Thursday.

Sophomore outside linebacker Christian Bell played 40 snaps after Van Ginkel's departure, per Pro Football Focus, although Tyler Johnson's no longer listed on the injury report and would likely start at Iowa if Van Ginkel's unable to play.

"There's opportunity for others to step in and step up," Chryst said after Saturday's game. "You want (Neuville and Van Ginkel) in there, and yet, they (weren't), and we've got to find a way to overcome those."

Benzschawel will miss his third straight game this week, while inside linebacker Griffin Grady (right leg), running back Bradrick Shaw (left leg) and defensive end Kraig Howe (right leg) are also expected to remain out.

Inside linebacker Mike Maskalunas (right leg) is listed as questionable after missing the BYU game, while true freshman safety Reggie Pearson (left leg) remains questionable to make his Badgers debut this week.

This is our chance at redemption for both the Wisconsin game AND what the Penn State game represented last year.

In 2016 we went to PSU and got thrashed. We were flat, unprepared and they took it to us en route to a Big Ten title run.

I had a strong feeling the script would be flipped in 2017 and damn they need every play allowed in that game to keep that from happening. We showed in that game that we could play with upper tier teams, even if we fell short. It also solidified what had already been established. That you don't come into Kinnick, especially at night, and expect to push us around, no matter how up for the game you think you are.

The Wisconsin game last year is essentially the 2016 PSU game for us. We were flat for whatever reason. We were unprepared for whatever reason, and they just took it to us.

This year's game is not only our chance to rectify that game, but also get that early signature conference win that was robbed from us in last year's PSU game.

Remember, had we won that game we would've been 4-0, probably ranked and with all the momentum and confidence in the world. Ironically enough, we are in that exact same position again.

This time though, we're a year stronger and a year wiser. Time to put what we learned to the test.....

I watched a replay of the BYU/Wisky game. i was surprised how quiet it was for this game.

BYU had a lot of success with jet sweeps and running outside the tackles.

BYU rotated 7 or 8 guys on the DL; I thought the Wisky OL would dominate based on all the hype; they did not.

Did Wisky simply have a bad game? Or are they not as good as advertised? And lets face it, they were "advertised" as a national championship / CFP contender.

Wisconsin is a mighty fine team ... given all the "newness" on the DL and the secondary ... and they're still awfully hard to score upon. However, that said, this year their D is a little more like where Iowa's is at ... they're "plucky" and very well coached ... but they're not likely to be "dominant."
